Ann J. Marrocco, born Antonina Joan Meli, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on August 26th 2023.

She is survived by her husband Arnold J Marrocco who cared for her lovingly until the time of her passing and is survived by her three sons, Ron Marrocco, his wife Judy Marrocco of Colorado, Michael Marrocco and Alan Marrocco and his wife Lori who offered compassionate care until her transition to God’s kingdom. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Meli (Dolores) and 7 grandchildren, Jacquelyn VanAuken (CO), Barrett Marrocco, (Alyssa), Kyle Marrocco, Adam Marrocco, Chad Marrocco and Tori Marrocco (Dracut) and Brandon Marrocco (Salem, NH) and two great grandchildren, Theodore VanAuken (CO) and Amelia Marrocco (CO).  She is pre-deceased by her son, Stephen Marrocco, her brother John Meli (Isabel) and her parents, Joseph and Flora Meli.

Ann came from humble roots and grew up in Medford, MA where she met her high school sweetheart, “Arnie” in 1955 and they started their life together.  Prior to marrying Arnold Marrocco, she worked at the John Hancock building in Boston, MA where she served the insurance firm as secretary.  Ann and Arnie built their home and raised four sons in Woburn, Massachusetts.  They had many friends and orchestrated many holiday and social events with family and neighbors over the years where food was always an important focal point.

Ann Marrocco was known to be a great listener, a kind and loving mother, wife, and friend and had a charming wit, impeccable sense of style and was known to be a talented cook where her passion for healthy eating was conveyed to family not just on holidays but on every day.

As the family bookkeeper, she kept a keen eye on the finances, serving in a supporting role to the breadwinner of the household. She took tremendous pride in being a mother, wife and homemaker and was always keen to present an impeccable home, despite the challenges of four boys and a husband who made the job even more challenging.

Ann’s holidays were a special treat that always included food, but her sense of style and fashion took center stage in everything she did.  Never would she purchase a gift unless she labored over the color, size, and selection!  After all, if she was going to give a gift, it was going to be a gift worth giving.

She was somewhat of a private person, but loved a good laugh, a great story and ‘girl time’.  Her daughters in law and grandchildren were her greatest source of enjoyment.  She would say these are the daughters she always wanted, and they brought her more joy than four boys ever could. She will always be known for her tender and caring heart as she cared for her son Stephen until his passing in 1984 and her mother, Flora (nana) who died at the age of 87.

We will miss our family matriarch, her wit, ability to mend to sensitive feelings and her warmth.

God speed, mom.
