Nicholas A. “Nick” Girardi – of Woburn, died peacefully, August 22nd at the age of eighty-six. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” (McDonough) Girardi. Loving father of Dr. N. Robert Girardi, his wife Mary of Stoneham, James Girardi, his wife Janet of Wilmington and Susan (Girardi) Risser, her husband John of Woburn. Cherished “Pa” of the “Lucky Seven” Theresa, Nicholas, Adam, Alex, Kate, Jake and Joseph and great-grandfather of Oliver. Dear brother of the late Ralph Girardi and Esther Henehan. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will take place, MONDAY, AUGUST 28th at 10 a.m., in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, MA. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to pay their respects prior to the Mass from 8:30-9:30 a.m., in the Lynch- Cantillon Funeral Home 263 Main St., Woburn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nick’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452
Nicholas A. “Nick” Girardi – of Woburn, died peacefully, August 22nd at the age of eighty-six. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Elizabeth “Betty” (McDonough) Girardi.
Born in Worcester and raised in Watertown & Woburn, Nick was a son of the late Ralph Girardi and Mary (Macinanti) Girardi/ Mancuso. After high school, Nick enlisted in the US Navy where he served his country proudly until being honorably discharged.
For many years, Nick worked as a presser in the garment industry, most notably for over 40 years with the ILGWU (International Ladies Garment Workers Union).
Nick’s family was his world and he enjoyed nothing more than spending time with them. He was a proud and supportive husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who always put others first.
Nick and his wife Betty were always together! They enjoyed travelling and took trips to Ireland, where they spent time visiting family, as well as travels to Italy, Alaska, and many other wonderful places throughout the world.
Nick was an avid sports fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, along with his love of golfing and gardening, He enjoyed his daily walks with his best friends. He was an exceptional cook and enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends especially around the holidays.
He will be sadly missed but never forgotten!!
