Joseph “Joe” E. Lavacchia passed away at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, on Thursday, March 17th after a brief illness.  The beloved husband of Priscilla “Pat” (Snow) Lavacchia Joe was eighty-five years of age.

Born at home in North Woburn, where Joe has lived his entire life, he was the son of the late Joseph G. and Rita (Galante) Lavacchia.  Raised in the North Woburn section of the city, Joe was educated in Woburn and a graduate of Woburn High School, Class of 1954.

While in high school, Joe was introduced to the love of his life, Pat Snow on a blind date ice skating!  That was the beginning of a wonderful journey, that led to their marriage which lasted sixty four years together.

Joe began working for Galante welding in the tenth grade.  He continued doing that until he began working for the Woburn School System.  He was assigned to the Linscott- School where he remained for over the next thirty years!  Everyone knew and loved Joe!  The children, parents, teachers, Joe would call them all by name, always enjoying little “quips!.”with them all, while maintaining a pristine school building each and every day!

A daughter and son blessed their lives, and together they were one complete unit.  They loved to travel to Lake George, for many years, where many happy summertime vacations took place.  In 1973  their destination changed to Meredith , New Hampshire where the fun continued for the remainder of his life.

Joe’s love of music was quite obvious as he was a phenomenal musician!  The many, many different instruments he could play, and he did!  When it came to the piano or organ though, his talents shined!  Back in the day,  “Romie’s Quarter Deck and Oyster House”, “The SHIP” and the “Commodore” were  some of the  venues where Joe entertained  for many, many years.   The joy and laughter, sing- alongs and fun that occurred, Joe was right in the middle of it all, playing away!

Joe was a man of great character and always present to all.  Throughout his lifetime he was kind, caring and very funny. He was an amazing cook and many will treasure his Monday night family and friend dinners.  His Baked Stuff Lobster and Italian Stuffed Peppers were family favorites!  He loved working around the house and his Gazebo was his pride and joy.  Not a Holiday went by that did not see that Gazebo decorated with the current Holiday theme..with Halloween and July 4th being his two favorites!

That twinkle in his eye and smile brought so much joy to so many.

He was one of a kind and will truly be missed

Joe was lovingly survived by his wife of sixty four years Pat.

What a wonderful man! For many years we would see him playing piano at a local establishment or enjoying a meal at the North Woburn Diner. He was a valuable member of the Linscott school team impacting so many children and faculty members with his positive personality. Our deepest sympathies to his family at this most difficult time.
