Judith M. Looney – Guerin – of Woburn, passed away unexpectedly, August 2nd at the age of sixty-nine. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Guerin.
Born in Winchester, Judith was one of two daughters, raised by their late mother, Josephine Coady. Judy was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School and received her nursing degree from Massachusetts General Hospital. While growing up, Judy was in a band called “The Four J’s” with her cousins where she was the guitarist.
Judy’s life calling was to be a nurse and mother. She worked as a Licensed practical nurse for many years, until the sudden passing of her husband August 22,1992. She was then left to raise 4 young children on her own and she dedicated her life to them. Judy always challenged her children, so that they would one day be prepared to face the challenges of life.
In 1997 Judy started working at Winchester Hospital. She then simultaneously began working at Austin Prep High School so that her son could attend. She left there after he graduated and remained at Winchester Hospital. She started as a switchboard operator, then worked in staffing for few years and most recently in day surgery as well as still being a switchboard operator.
She was a selfless and loving woman who would do anything for her family. Spending time at home, relaxing and reading a good book was a favorite pastime of hers. She also enjoyed watching the horse races and visiting Saratoga with her late husband. Her favorite horse was the Secretariat. She also loved antiques, decorations, gardening, flowers, and going for rides to Rock Port.
The Holidays’ especially Thanksgiving, were a favorite time for Judy, as she loved just spending the day with her family. Judy was a devote and true Catholic, with a strong and deep faith. When her children were younger, Judy taught CCD. She truly believed in the afterlife, angels, and heaven, as she had many losses in her life. It was always family that she focused on throughout her life, and she always put them first.
Judy is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, Andrew Guerin of Woburn, Matthew Guerin of Georgetown, Tara Guerin of Danvers and Zachary Guerin of Woburn. Adored grandmother of Fallyn Guerin of Billerica. Dear sister of the late Frances Looney and daughter of the late Josephine (Coady) Looney. Cherished friend of Carol and Arthur Cannon and niece of the late Mary “Mae” Coady. Also survived by her beloved dog Seamus, and pre-deceased by her many other beloved Westies and her Wheaton Terrier.
