OBITUARY:

Louis Barrone, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 6th. He was eighty one years of age. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (MacDonald) Barrone.

Louie was born in Woburn and was a proud lifelong resident. He was educated in the public school system before enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served honorably in the Korean War and always took a great deal of pride in his accomplishments as a veteran. He spent his enlisted time stationed in Germany and New York. Louie was a member of the American Legion Post 101 in Woburn as well as a life member of the VFW post 543. Louie was always social and belonged to numerous clubs across the city. He was a member of the Woburn Lodge of Elks as well as the Woburn Irish American Club and Woburn City Athletic Club. Louie worked for many years as the manager of Olin Chemicals, a waste water treatment plant.

After returning home from the Air Force, Louie met his beloved wife Patricia. They were married in 1963 in St. Charles Church and settled on Laurel Street where they would raise their family. They brought three wonderful children into the world and truly enjoyed watching their family grow. Many summer days were spent as a family at Nana’s house at Hampton Beach. Spring and summer weather always brought Louie to the golf course. He had a real passion for the game and played into his eighties. He particularly enjoyed his time playing at Woburn Country Club.

Louie always enjoyed a good card game and time spent fishing. He especially enjoyed time with his friends in Green Acres, Florida where he spent his winter months later in life. He led a simple life and was always a true gentleman. His kind nature and charismatic spirit were contagious. Louie was especially proud of his grandchildren. Many Sunday mornings were spent having breakfast with “Papa” and making memories that will always be treasured.

Sadly, in addition to his parents, Louie was a predeceased by his wife Patricia (MacDonald) Barrone as well as his daughter, Donna Barrone.

Louie is lovingly survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Barrone and husband Mark Cobb of NH and Ann Quinn and husband Thomas Jr. of Woburn, his grandchildren, Meghan and Thomas Quinn III of Woburn and Jarrod Cobb of NH. He also leaves a sister, Anna Silva of Winchester, and a niece, Michele Lawrence and her husband Clifford “Skip” of Andover.

A Funeral will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Saturday, April 9th at 11 a.m.. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours 9:30 – 11, prior to the Service. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn. Remembrances may be made in Louie’s memory to the Friends of Woburn Veterans, 144 School Street, Woburn.
