OBITUARY:

Kenneth F. Lombardo, a lifelong Woburn resident, passed away on Sunday, April 3rd. He was sixty four years of age. He was the beloved husband of the late June (Barry) Lombardo who passed away in 2000 and the longtime companion of Dawn Lavachia.

Kenneth was born in Woburn, son of the late Frank and Elsie “Ethyl” (Marcelle) Lombardo. He was raised in Woburn and was a graduate of Woburn High School. He was employed for a time by the City of Woburn at the Department of Public Works. He served the Commonwealth with the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office for a time and was also an auxiliary police officer in the City of Woburn. In 1986 he attended NEFI, earning his certification as an oil burner technician. He worked for thirty years with his brother-in-law’s company, Jackson Fuel.

Kenneth and his wife June were married in 1971 after meeting through mutual friends as teenagers. They remained in Woburn where they brought three children into the world and watched their family grow. He was an active member of the Towanda Club, the American Legion as well as the Portuguese Club.

Many summers were spent enjoying time at York Beach in Maine. It was a true testament to Kenneth’s good nature to see generations coming together year after year. Family, friends and all of their children were always welcome and all enjoyed many great memories. He had a passion for fishing and spent many hours on the York River fishing with his friend Steve who was more like a brother to him. They were truly inseparable.

When he wasn’t fishing or spending time in York, Kenneth enjoyed bowling and playing pool. More than anything, he enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He would do anything for you and had a heart of gold. Always kind and happy, his loving personality will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Sadly, Kenneth was predeceased by his wife June (Barry) Lombardo as well as his parents Frank and Ethyl Lombardo.

He is lovingly survived by his three children, Lisa Pacheco and husband John, Frank Lombardo and wife Cheryl and Kenneth Lombardo Jr. all of Woburn; his grandchildren, Taylor, Nicole, Anna, Emily, Madeline, Annmarie, Conor and Mackenzie; his sister Catherine Jackson and husband Dean and twin sister Rita Lombardo and his lifelong best friend “brother” Steve Kelly. He also leaves his long time companion, Dawn Lavacchia and her children Meghan and Andrew to whom he was like a father; countless nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and extended family.

A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, Friday, April 8th at 9:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 10:30. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours, Thursday 4 – 8 p.m. Remembrances may be made in Kenneth’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
