OBITUARY:

June (McGillvray) Moules passed away at her home in Peabody with all of her cherished family at her side, Sunday morning March 9th. The beloved wife of Thomas “Tom” Moules, she was fifty-four years of age.

Born in Woburn, she was one of eight children born to the late John W. and Mary I. (McInnis) McGillvray. Raised and educated in Woburn, June was a graduate of Woburn High School with the Class of 1978. Always an active person, June was very involved with her class throughout her four years. Following high school, June continued her education at Northeastern University, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. With the hopes of securing a position in Wedding Planning, she was thrilled to get her start at Yolanda’s in Waltham. There she began assisting brides with that very special day dress, along with parents and bridesmaids.

From there, June and her brother partnered up with Monarch Catering, where they really got into the “Event Planning.” The Fairways at Woburn Country Club was the venue. They positively complimented each other’s strengths and have made the Fairways at Woburn Country Club truly a destination place for dining, weddings, bar mitzvahs, anniversaries, class reunions, and all sorts of gatherings of one kind or another.

The most important people, though, in June’s life were her family. Her husband Tom she had met working at the Cinemas while in High School. They married in June 1986 and moved to Peabody where they have made their home. Their two children arrived and life couldn’t be any better.

Always involved with her children, she was there for every academic and sporting event. Countless hours were spent at the football fields, hockey rink, and baseball fields with her son, and at all of the games with her daughter cheerleading, and the many different dance lessons for practice, recitals, and shows! June always made sure that whatever her children were involved in, she tried to make the event special, and it was. Their favorite kind of family trips were ones when they would cruise or visit tropical islands. All together and together as one, June loved every moment spent with her family.

June has always been an avid fund raiser. There to help in any way, June and a group from the Country Club served up clam chowder for all the participants in the “Step Out for Hospice” run, each and every year. Often donating the Country Club to different organizations for fund raisers, June truly was a leader here in Woburn for always making very kind, generous, and thoughtful “gifts” to families, clubs, and organizations. An active participant in earlier years for cancer research, June herself began organizing her “Team Hope,” which benefited Lahey Clinic Cancer Research.

Hope is what June had in her heart. Not only for herself but for every person who shared their journey with cancer. The last several years have not been easy ones for June. She never lost sight of the fact that she could and she would live each day to the absolute fullest. Her very kind and gentle spirit never faltered, always greeting people with that great smile, sharing a kind word, and always remaining positive and upbeat, right up to her last day.

A smile that would just beam and a person of tremendous warmth and integrity, June has certainly set forth a legacy that is all encompassing of a life beautifully lived, and a spirit that will be cherished in our hearts forever.

June was sadly predeceased by her parents, her brothers-in-law, Paul Menassion, George Roberts, and David Bentley.

She is lovingly survived by her beloved husband of twenty-seven years, Thomas J. Moules; her precious children, Celine M. Moules and Thomas J. Moules, Jr., both of Peabody; her dear siblings, Ret. US Navy Capt. John McGillvray and his wife Catherine of VA, Francis McGillvray and his wife Joyce of Woburn, Paul McGillvray and his wife Kathleen of Wilmington, Anne Menassion of FL, Marion Shetty and her husband Dr. Mahadevan of CT, Jayne Roberts of Wakefield, and Ret. AF Major Mildred “Millie” Hill and her husband Gerry of CA; her many cherished nieces and nephews; her father-in-law, Joseph Moules; her brother-in-law, Joseph Moules, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Billerica; and her sister-in-law, Denise Bentley, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and their families.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn on Friday, March 14th at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
