OBITUARY:

Eva M. (Spinney) Moschella passed away at the Winchester Hospital, Friday, April 26th after a brief illness. The beloved daughter of the late Herbert and Helen (Burke) Spinney, she was seventy three years of age.

Born in Boston, she was one of four children born into the Spinney family. Raised and educated in Dorchester, she was a graduate of Dorchester High School, Class of 1958. In the early sixties she married and moved to Somerville. Bringing four wonderful children into the world, she was actively involved throughout their upbringing.

For thirty five plus years she worked at Somerville Hospital. She began at Mystic Health Center, a satellite program belonging to the hospital, which at the time was located in the Somerville Housing projects. She began as a receptionist there and retired from the hospital in 2009, as a Free Care billing administrator.

Throughout her tenure she began in the projects where she taught and coached hundred of kids. She taught them number one, what it was to be a team and how important it was to play together, all for one and one for all. Hockey, basketball, softball and baseball, they learned the rules, regulations and the strategies of each sport along with how important it was to be a “team” member.

Eva was a very selfless person. Helping others came naturally and she always put others ahead of herself. She took great pride in each of her own children and all of their sporting and educational accomplishments. Summer fun was always had at Nahant or Revere Beach from sunrise to sunset. As they began their own families, “Nana,” took as much pride and joy in her grandchildren as she did her own. She shared many happy hours with her grandchildren and again celebrating them and their many wonderful accomplishments.

Throughout her lifetime Eva touched many people in many different ways. Rules of the game, coaching a team, assisting the elderly and helping people she knew and people she didn’t know. Most importantly though she was her children and grandchildren’s greatest coach, supporter and mentor. Cheering them on to be the best they could possibly be and met with tremendous success.

Eva was predeceased by her brother, Herbert Spinney.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Annette Moschella of Woburn, Anthony Moschella and his wife Deborah, Eva Minichiello and her husband Robert, Jr., all of FL, and Edna Mahoney of NH, her brothers, Arthur Spinney of Woburn, Norman Spinney of Weymouth, and her grandchildren, Anthony, III, Elizabeth, Jannelle, Brittany, Hollie Rae, Carolyn, and Michael.

Funeral from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Saturday, May 4th at 11:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Funeral Home from 9 to 11:45 a.m. prior to the Mass. Interment is private. Remebrances may be made in Eva’s memory to the Breast Cancer Society, 6859 East Rembrandt Avenue, Suite 128, Mesa, AZ 85212.
