OBITUARY:
Lillian V. Eaton of Woburn died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, April 14th, at the age of ninety-five. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank “Necco” Eaton, who passed away in 1990.
Lillian was the daughter of the late Harold and Lillian (Hooper) MacDonald. A lifelong resident, Lillian graduated from Woburn High School and continued her education at Wilton Beauty Academy. She worked as a hairdresser at her own shop for many years.
Lillian was a talented homemaker who loved to cook and enjoyed family gatherings and parties. She and Necco often hosted many friends, along with family, at their summer home at Little Neck in Ipswich. It was the scene of many years of happy summer vacations and enduring memories.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and neighbor. A talented seamstress, she had quite an aptitude for quilting, which she took up in later years. Always generous, she passed along her many quilting projects to friends and family. Lillian was especially proud of making quilts for each of her 23 grandchildren. As a knitter she produced intricately beautiful Irish knit sweaters.
A member of the Woburn Guild of Artists, she was proficient in all aspects of painting, from pastels and oils to watercolors. Her beautiful paintings hang in many local and regional homes. Lillian was very proud of her six children and was often seen at local sporting events, rooting for her children and, in later years, her grandchildren. Her life revolved around her family.
Lillian was a devout communicant of St. Charles Church. In years past, she was a bowler in the couples’ league at the Towanda Club.
In addition to her husband, Frank “Necco” Eaton, Lillian was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary J. Dunn and Harold and Robert MacDonald.
Surviving are her children, Donald Eaton and his wife Christina of Petersham, Richard Eaton and his wife Sharyn of Hampton Beach, NH, Barbara Poore and her husband Lawrence of Woburn, Robert Eaton of Woburn, Lawrence Eaton and his wife Marcia of Ipswich, and Nancy Hubbard and her husband James of Woburn. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Jean MacDonald of Woburn, and was the cherished “Gram” of 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Saturday, April 20th at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, at 10. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 3 to 8 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Lillian’s memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., B-102, Danvers, MA 01923, or to the Jenks Center, 109 Skillings Road, Winchester, MA 01890.
