OBITUARY:
Patricia A.(Connors) Richardson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family Sunday evening, March 27th. She was the devoted wife of Russell “Rusty” G. Richardson of Woburn..
Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Helen (Peterson) Connors. Living in the Central Square section of the city for most of her life she attended Woburn Schools and was a graduate of Woburn High School, Class of 1942. She began working in Boston at the Telephone Company, which was a position she held until she married.
“Pat” as she was affectionately known, had attended a New Year’s Eve party with some of her friends during the late forties and was introduced to a gentleman by the name of Russell “Rusty” Richardson. In 1950 they were married and made their home here in Woburn. They brought three wonderful children into the world. As the years went by and two of the children married, their family grew. Over many years the holidays were always held in the homestead where Pat would make the best ever Turkey dinners, with a very special stuffing and all of the fixings. She was a terrific cook, always making all sorts of culinary delights.
Pat had a zest for life. She had many hobbies over the years such as cake decorating, ceramics, playing bingo , cards, and solving crossword puzzles. She was also a voracious reader and would visit the Woburn Public Library at least once a week, each time leaving with an armful of books.
In her middle 70’s Pat bought her own computer and followed up with a computer class at Woburn Memorial High School. She was never afraid to embrace a new challenge. Over the years she and her husband truly enjoyed travelling. They visited Hawaii, California, Arizona, Las Vegas, Florida and a favorite spot was Aruba. Whether by land, sea or sky, rain, snow ,sleet or sun, they were always ready. Foxwoods was also a monthly destination.
Pat’s most very favorite times were those which were spent at home with her dear family and friends. She adored spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter. During much of the time she spent with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nana”, she taught them all how to play cards and dance.
For the past eight years Pat has fought through many medical challenges, without complaint. Her positive attitude, wonderful sense of humor, compassion and dignity make her an inspiration to all who know her.
In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her sisters Joan and Barbara Connors .
She is lovingly survived by her dear husband of sixty years Russell “Rusty” Richardson and her loving children, Gayle Murphy and her husband Robert of Boxford, Russell Richardson and Susan Richardson both of Woburn. Dear sister of John Connors of Woburn. Loving grandmother of Shannon Murphy Farley, Brian Murphy, Stacy, Russell and Katie Richardson and great grandmother of Caroline Farley. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Thursday, March 31st at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 10. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Donations maybe made in Pat’s memory to the Woburn Public Library, 45 Pleasant Street, Woburn MA 01801 or to the Alzheimer’;s Disease Assn.,311 Arsenal Street,Watertown, MA
What a loving tribute you have written. Aunt Pat will be missed by so many. We will always remember fun times with her at parties, showers, craft fairs and of course, the Fourth of July cookout each year at Stuie and Mary’s home. Aunt Pat always had a smile and a kind word for all os us.
With love and sympathy,
Donny, Jeannie, Erin, Sarah & Dan
Richardson family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
May you know peace and comfort.
God bless,
Charlie & Sandy Culhane
I have the most wonderful memories of Patsy when she would come to our house with Joan Christmas Eve spending time with my mother. I remembered a time at Hampton Beach when she made breakfast for me, the most delicious eggs. I always felt when we saw her, she had such love for all of us. Love, Jayne Mattson (cousin)
