OBITUARY:

A. Richard “Dickie” Edmonds, a lifelong Woburn resident, passed away at Winchester Hospital on Sunday evening, March 6th, at the age of seventy-four. He was the beloved husband of Sheila M. (Wells) Edmonds.

Born in Woburn seventy-four years ago, he was the son of the late Arthur G. and Alice (Long) Edmonds. He graduated from Woburn High School and entered the US Army, where he served during peacetime in the late 1950’s. He married his high school sweetheart, Sheila Wells, while he was stationed in Germany, and they remained devoted to one another for over fifty-three years. Mr. Edmonds worked as a dispatcher for Au Claire Transportation for thirty years until his retirement.

His family meant the world to him, and together they enjoyed many vacations and camping trips. He never missed anything in which his children and later his grandchildren were involved. His family remained close throughout, always working as a team and enjoying their time together.

He loved his bright yellow scooter, which he rode around Woburn until October, and in Ft. Myers, Florida in the winter months. Along with wonderful winters spent in Florida, he and his wife took memorable vacations to Europe and throughout the United States, as well as several cruises. He held membership in the Knights of Columbus in Everett.

Preceding him in death was his sister, Marjorie Guilbeault of Woburn.

Surviving along with his beloved wife Sheila are five children: Richard and his wife Eileen of Groton, Daniel and his wife Pam of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Patricia Brownrigg and her husband Randy of Hudson, New Hampshire, Michael and his wife Renée of Phoenix, Arizona, and David Edmonds and his wife Margaret of Pepperell. He was also the beloved grandfather of thirteen: William, Kevin, and Sean Edmonds, Daniel, Kayla and Melissa Edmonds, Matthew, Christopher, and Samantha Brownrigg, Brian, Kyle, and Amber Edmonds, and Krystle Marie.

A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, on Friday, March 11th, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.

Calling hours at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, are on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
