LISA (IZZI) McNULTY, of Woburn, passed away on September 16th, 2026, at the age of sixty-eight, following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Throughout her illness, Lisa faced each day with remarkable strength and determination. She was a fighter in every sense of the word, but more than anything, she was a woman whose strength came from the people she loved most—her family.
Born and raised in East Boston, Lisa was the cherished daughter of the late Gino and Lucy (Trevisonne) Izzi. She attended Girls’ Latin School before continuing her education at Emmanuel College and earning her bachelor’s degree in Music. It was at Emmanuel College that Lisa met her bonus sister, Carlene Brown, along with a few very special professors who became beloved lifelong friends. She later furthered her education at the University of Massachusetts, earning a degree in Mathematics.
Lisa dedicated much of her professional life to teaching. Over the years, she taught in the Cambridge Public Schools, as well as in Lexington, Waltham, and at Matignon. When her children were preschool age, she taught at World of Wonder Preschool. Teaching suited Lisa naturally. She enjoyed people, loved to listen and talk, and had a genuine ability to connect with those around her. Whether with students, family, friends, or someone she had just met, Lisa gave people her attention and made conversation come easily.
At the center of Lisa’s life was her family. She shared 44 years of marriage with her husband, Barry Francis McNulty, and together they built a life centered around the people and moments that mattered most. Lisa was immensely proud of her children, Justin, Bria, and Keith. Later in life, becoming a Nonna brought her an entirely new kind of joy.
Lorenzo, Lucas, and Gemma held an especially treasured place in her heart. Lisa was a devoted Nonna who wanted to be there for everything. She never missed one of Lorenzo’s sporting events, cheering him on with the same enthusiasm and determination she brought to everything she loved. Time with her grandchildren was never taken for granted; their accomplishments, milestones, and everyday moments brought her tremendous happiness.
Lisa loved spending her summers at Seabrook Beach, a place that became a second home and was filled with lifelong friends and countless happy memories. She also loved the holidays and everything that came with them—decorating, hosting, cooking, and most importantly, bringing everyone together. Proud of her Italian heritage and known as an exceptional cook, Lisa understood that most of life’s best moments happened around a table surrounded by family and friends.
Giving back was also important to Lisa. She volunteered her time at the Shamrock School and with the Woburn Cultural Council, always willing to become involved and contribute to the community around her.
When ovarian cancer entered Lisa’s life, she met it with extraordinary resolve. She fought fiercely, refusing to allow her illness to define the life she had built. Even during the most difficult days, the qualities that had always defined Lisa remained—her determination, her love for her family, her willingness to keep going, and her appreciation for the people beside her.
Lisa’s life will be remembered for everything she poured into it—the people she taught, the friendships she treasured, the meals and holidays she shared, the beach days she loved, and above all, the family to whom she gave her whole heart.
Along with her husband Barry, Lisa is lovingly survived by her children, Justin McNulty of Winchester, Bria Capobianco and her husband Stefan of Wakefield, and Keith McNulty of Woburn; her grandchildren, Lorenzo McNulty, Lucas Capobianco, and Gemma Capobianco; and Lorenzo’s mother, Jara Berenguer. She is also survived by her siblings, Gino Izzi of East Boston, Andrea Craven and her husband Paul of Jamaica Plain, Claudia Izzi of New Jersey, Anita LaFauci and her husband Stephen of Malden, Carla Boyle and her husband Robert of Duxbury, and Louis Izzi and his wife Kim of Melrose, along with many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Her Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, September 29th at 11:30 a.m. in St. Charles Church, Woburn. Burial to follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Calling hours will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, September 28th from 4–7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Lisa’s memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, designated to Ovarian Cancer Research.

I am very saddened to hear about Lisa, one of my earlier “cousins” through marriage. She always had a radiant smile and a kind word. I remember her teaching me about dieting through her “grazing lightly” throughout the day. I always enjoyed her presence very much.

We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Lisa and send our heartfelt condolences to your family. I had the pleasure of knowing her through the Shamrock PTO when I first joined eight years ago. Her dedication as a “PTO Nonna” truly showed where her heart was—firmly with her family. Lisa brought so much light and willingness to help into every room she entered. It was wonderful seeing her at football games recently, and she will be greatly missed. Wishing you peace and comfort in the days ahead.
