Horace graduated from Arlington High School in 1951 and went on to earn an Associate degree in Engineering Technology from Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston. He enjoyed a long and rewarding career in microwave technology, working with Diamond Antenna & Microwave Corporation, Microwave Associates (M/A-COM), and Delta Electronics. Over the years, he became a trusted and respected “go-to” expert in the practical design of rotary microwave connections, known for his knowledge, experience, and problem-solving skills.
After spending many years in the microwave industry, Horace never shied away from new technology. He enthusiastically embraced his iPhone, using it to capture photos of his culinary adventures, and loved receiving texts from family and friends filled with pictures and updates from their daily lives. Just before the COVID-19 pandemic, Michael and Heath installed Alexa devices throughout his home. Michael fondly recalls calling his dad and hearing Dean Martin (or even Lady Gaga) playing loudly in the background. Each morning, Horace would begin his day by asking Alexa about the weather and catching up on the latest news.
After his wife, Dolores, passed away, Horace spent much of his time reminiscing and sharing cherished stories from years gone by. He often recounted the double date when he first met the love of his life, Dolores. She was not originally his date, but the moment he looked into her bright hazel eyes, he knew she was the one. Another favorite story was from the day World War II officially ended, when he rode through the streets of Boston with his father, mother, and sister, Geraldine. He remembered waving and shouting out the car window as people filled the streets in celebration of that historic moment.
