Mary was born on April 10, 1935 in Boston, to the late Eileen (Dowdell) Mortell and Francis X. Mortell. Mary’s passion for travel was sparked by her career as a stewardess for major airlines. I was very sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. She and I were friends for many years as airline stewardesses; we flew and traveled together. We toured Europe and Tahiti and many other places and I knew her family, as she knew mine. I will never forget her. She has my love, as does Jack and their family.
I am writing to express my condolences. My mother in law, Isabel, passed away on October 20th. She collected many beautiful works of art purchased over the years at the Reading Art Shows. We have been going through her things and I discovered a piece painted by Mary. I am sure both of them would be pleased to know that we will continue to enjoy “Onion Trio”.
I’m so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a sweet lady. She will be missed.
I am so sorry for your loss of Mary and I just saw that Jack had passed away too.I had worked with Mary many years ago at Ames Dept Store. I also had seen her and Jack at St. Anthony’s Church. I am praying 🙏 for her family and friends. I used to live on the next street from them beautiful family. Rest in peace love Kathleen Nardelli Moran.
So sorry with deep sympathy
I had the honor and pleasure of sitting next to Mary. I was a new classmate of hers for this past year at our art lessons. I learned constantly from her. She was welcoming, friendly, warm, and gave freely her advice when I observed her work and asked my many questions. Most of all I remember her laughing spontaneously at my quirky painted creatures and children that tickled her funny bone. She was an authentic, vital, and lovely woman. I miss her deeply.
It is with great sadness I heard the news of Mary’s passing. My sympathies to the family.
Mary will be so missed. She painted with our Friday group for many years. What an exceptional artist.
I will forever miss Mary. She was a watercolor student in my classes for 25 years, very talented, cheerful, helpful, and kind. A better person you could not meet. She helped me to hang my class exhibits every single year with unerring judgement. I just can’t imagine that I won’t see her smiling face again. I hope she knew I loved her.
Love you forever 🦋
Condolences to the Kelly family on the passing of Mary, especially so shortly after Jack. Mary was a wonderful, quiet, thoughtful, kind woman. A brilliant artist who was so humble when given a compliment. She and I served numerous Sunday masses at 11 as Extraordinary ministers.
I knew Mary from the Woburn Guild of Artists. She was always friendly and helpful and supplied/set up our treats and drinks. Loved her beautiful artwork. She helped keep the Guild going and I am sure they will miss everything she did for them over the years.
Mary, Thank You for being such a caring and wonderful person to be around. Your gift for art and love for your community will always be remembered. May you rest in eternal peace.
Mary, what a nice, loving person. So sorry for your loss. Love, Ron, Pat & Erin Haverty.
What a sweet lady. And such a talented artist. I was a classmate of hers for many years. Her talent was extraordinary. She will be missed by all who painted by her side. My condolences to your family.
So sorry for your loss
Mary was a kind and caring lady
I am saddened to learn of Mary’s passing, my deep condolences to you her family. We shared a love of art & painting by membership in the Woburn Guild of Artists. I will remember her fondly with love. Mary Ella Rafuse.
We were saddened to hear that Jack had passed and now Mary. Two really fine people who loved their family. We bought the Kelly home on Fletcher Rd. and had many wonderful years there. God bless you all……
I know, and worked in the Guild with Mary for many years. We also did things together with the Friends of Saint Anthony’s.
I loved Mary and Jack for all the years I knew them. They were incredible Christians, who did so much for the community and friends!
My heart hurts deeply, and I know they are together in a better place. God Bless them both.
I love you auntie. ❤️
