Mathew E “Matt” Sallese passed away at his home after a horrendous battle with cancer, fighting every day for the last three and half years.  The beloved husband of Elizabeth “Liz” (Stillman) Sallese, Mat was only forty-one years young.

Born in Hampton ,VA,  Matt is the son of Nancy (Goossens) Sallese of Woburn and the late Edward.  Growing  up in Woburn, Matt was active in the Cub Scouts, and Little League baseball throughout his childhood.  Matt attended Schools here in Woburn and for high school, he graduated from the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School.

Throughout the years Matt was an extremely hard worker.  He got into construction, found his knack in roofing and worked at that right up to the time he could not work, due to his illness.

For the last ten and a half years, Matt has been married to his best friend, confidant and soulmate Liz.  Since 2015 they have made their home in Fitchburg, pror to have been in Lawrence and Woburn.

Eight years ago they were blessed, bringing a beautiful daughter into the world, Melanie!  What a truly wonderful gift she was!  Needless to say; the sun rose and sun set on her, and together they  journeyed fourth.

The ocean was a place of solace for all.  They would gather up some bait, make some lunches, head to their boat,  and off they would go and had a ball!  And caught some fish too.

Gardening began in April and went right through to the fall. From the flowers to the veggies they would plant it all!  Matt and Melanie would reap the tomatoes, squash, beans and more tomatoes, along with some of the beautiful flowers, that would always add color to any room in the house, particularly the sunflowers!

Over the last two years Matt has given all he had to give, spiritually, emotionally and lovingly  to remain positive and upbeat for his family.  The love he shared with Liz and Melanie was truly one of a kind, lasting forever and ever in their hearts.
