JOHN F. “SEAN” EGAN – of Woburn, died peacefully, November 7th, surrounded by his family, at the age of eighty-seven. Beloved husband of the late June C. (Rania) Egan. Devoted father of Linda Girolamo, her husband Scott of Woburn, Donna Kashian, her husband Richard of Lexington and Michele Rivera, her husband Luis of Chelmsford. Dear brother of Bridget “Della” McLaughlin of Woburn, and the late Mattie Egan, Patrick Egan, Mary McNamara and Teresa Cataldo. Cherished grandfather of Julie Faulkingham, her husband Shane, Ryan Girolamo, David and Matthew Kashian, and Sarah and Alyssa Rivera. Adored great-grandfather of June. Loving brother-in-law of Carolyn Gould, her husband Laurence of Wilmington. Dear uncle of Brendan McLaughlin and John McNamara. John is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will take place, Wednesday, November 15th at 10 a.m., in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd, Woburn, MA.  Interment to follow in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours on Tuesday, November 14th from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Lynch- Cantillon Funeral Home 263 Main St., Woburn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

John “Sean” F. Egan – a longtime resident of Woburn, died peacefully, November 7th, surrounded by his family, at the age of eighty-seven. He was the beloved husband of the late June C. (Rania) Egan. 

Born and raised in Galway, Ireland, John was a son of the late John and Mary (Moran) Egan. At the age of 19, John set out to start a new life. He first moved to England where he started as a lightweight boxer. A little while later, he ventured out to the United States to walk his sister down the isle, and never left. 

He met the love of his life, June and in 1962, they married. Together they raised three daughters in Woburn to whom they were devoted.

John was a master plasterer and owned and operated Sean Egan Plastering for many years.  Though he excelled professionally, where John truly found greatness was in his role as husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  

John was a founding member of the Woburn Irish American Club as well as a member of the VFW. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping, spending time with his family and golfing. He will always be remembered for his unique golf swing. 

 He was a confident, authentic, honest and loyal gentleman, and if you were a friend, you were a friend for life. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

    Johnny was like a father to me and I will miss him forever. I will always cherish our memories. He was very caring, wise, and fun. He was so proud of his family. He was truly blessed to have his beautiful, devoted daughters by his side right up until the end. He is at peace now, and reunited with his Junie.

    Donna, I didn’t realize Sean was your dad. I sat with him many an afternoon and listen to his wonderful stories with his Irish frog. He was a true gentleman. I’m sorry for your loss.

    I remember Sean fondly as one of my Dads good friends … always around our house back in the day and I loved spending weekends at his house with Michelle… I especially loved the glittery, swirled ceilings he put in our entire house .. I’d love to have those today .. Rest in Peace Sean .. say hello to Mum & Dad for me .. the bed of heaven to you!
