ELEANOR O. (BELTRAMI) CUNNIFF – a longtime resident of Woburn, died peacefully, November 6th, with her family by her side, at ninety years of age. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to the late Paul A. Cunniff.

Born and raised in Somerville, Ellie was a daughter of Italian Immigrants, the late Alessandro and Anna (Olivieri) Beltrami. She was educated in Somerville and a graduate of St. Clements High School.

After high school, Ellie worked in the office at the A&P Grocery Store in Boston with Paul’s sister Doris. She was introduced to Paul through his sister and it was love at first sight. They married on May 4, 1957. They made their home on the west side of Woburn where Ellie dedicated her life to raising, supporting, and loving her 6 children. Along with her time in Woburn, every summer Ellie would take her children and then later her grandchildren, to their lake house in Nottingham, NH, which was her happy place.

Ellie remained active through her life.  She loved to walk and could alway be spotted walking around the Four Corners in the early mornings.  Ellie and Paul were proud members of the Irish American Club of Arlington. She was a longtime member and past president of TOPS Club (Take of Pounds Sensibly) out of Lexington. She also enjoyed working as a food demonstrator at BJ’s Wholesale Warehouse in Stoneham where she socialized with old and new friends. Once she left BJs, she loved spending her days at the Woburn Senior Center.

Ellie will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, strength, and love for her family. She will be deeply missed.

  1. Ellie’s Family,
My family and I are very sorry for the loss of your Dear Mother. Our family ties go back to many years ago, as your Dad lived directly across the street from my husbands family. I always enjoyed running into her, especially at BJs. She was a wonderful friend and always had a smile.
    Love and Prayers,
    The OConnor Family

  2. Our thoughts and prayers are with You all during this time of grief. May she rest in peace. Barbara, Bobby and Renee Stocker

  3. Sincere sympathy to all of you at this difficult time. Such a surprise to see that Ellie’s date of death was shared with my Dad. We used to have the best of times in our neighborhood! I treasure the memories we made! Your Mom was one of the good ones!! She had a great smile and was always very nice to me! Lean on each other and find comfort in your memories! Take care!!

  5. Rich & Carol DeFuria

Our deepest condolences to the Cunniff & Beltrami families, and to everyone who was fortunate enough to know Ellie. I have so many fantastic memories of Auntie Lala thru the years: from home-made apple pies at Thanksgiving; to company picnics at Whalom Park; to days spent at the cottage; to days spent “in the country” (Woburn). She was a special lady and she will be greatly missed.
