MARGARET C. (WANICEK) CASEY – of Woburn, died peacefully, September 10th, at the age of ninety-two. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert B. Casey Sr.

Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, Margaret was a daughter of the late Barbara (Nelson) and John Wanicek. She was a graduate of Eastern high school and received her bachelor’s degree in art from the University of Philadelphia.

In 1956 Margaret met a young soldier, Bob Casey, who became her future husband. Together, while serving his country, Bob and Margaret moved all over the world. After retirement, they came back to Massachusetts, eventually settling in Woburn.

For many years, Margaret worked as a manager for Mahoney’s in Winchester where she oversaw the ordering of bulbs and plants, which she loved. Despite her busy schedule, Margaret found time to garden at her own home and was known for being able to revive plants back to life.

Always ready for an adventure, Margaret’s love for traveling began early on, starting with taking cruises with her husband. After his passing in 1992, she never turned down an opportunity to explore — even if it meant going alone.  Her free spirit was one that led her to visit six continent and dozens of countries, her favorite adventures being visiting an elephant and tiger reserve and riding on a camel through the desert.

When she wasn’t traveling, Margaret spent her time at the Woburn Senior Center where she was very active and served as a chairman on several boards. Margaret made everyone around her feel better about themselves with her smile and unconditional love.  Her radiant smile, kind heart, and unwavering love will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.
