JOSEPH A. BOVA , a longtime resident of Stoneham, passed away peacefully at ninety years of age. Born in the West End of Boston he was raised in Somerville .  He was the son of the late Angelina and Anthony Bova.

At seventeen he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country in the Korean War, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant.  On returning home he met his wife Florence Reppucci and together they started a beautiful family together in Medford and then built their forever home in Stoneham.  Fond memories were made at their homestead which was a gathering place for their large extended family.  Tragically Florence was taken from him in 1974

Father and son worked side by side at Bova’s Auto Body for many years building many special memories.  Together they also were lifetime members of Palmer Cove Yacht Club, spending many hours on the water together.Excursions often included visitations to the Cape to visit his sister, Newport, Provincetown and of course Misery Island with family and friends.

Upon retirement he spent his winters in Nuevo Vallarta.  He welcomed all to his home, to enjoy the beautiful weather and experience the Mexican Culture.  It was here that he met his longtime companion Jen Hooper with whom he spent the last eighteen years enjoying life traveling between Mexico, Florida and her home in Canada.

Joe lived a full life of many adventures and experiences while he was with us and he will be truly missed.

Joe will be sadly missed by his son Anthony, daughter Patty mcNaughton and her husband Dave and his youngest daughter Cheryl McElhinney and her husband Bill.  His five grandchildren Mark mcNaughton, Brian mcNaughton and his wife Katrina, Dina Jackie and her husband Jeff, Sean McElhinney and his fiancé’ Tori Campbell and Owen McElhinney .  Joe also leaves three beautiful great granddaughters, Natalie and Sasha mcNaughton and Brooke Jackie.
