Margaret A. “Peggy” (Lavelle) Grammer, passed away peacefully, with her beloved family at her side, Thursday, March 2nd, 2023. Peggy was wife of the late Richard T. “Dick” Grammer.
Born in Belmont, eighty-eight years ago, Peggy was the daughter of the late Francis and Grace (Langley) Lavelle.
One of four children, she was raised and educated in Belmont and a graduate of Belmont High School along with the Class of 1953.
In the early fifties Peggy was introduced to a a fine young man, Dick Grammer, at the Towers Restaurant which was located in North Woburn. In 1953 they married, and brought five children into the world. Needless to say they were quite busy during the “growing up” years, while making their home in North Woburn amongst the Grammer Clan. Sadly, in 1976 Dick passed away.
Peggy worked at Star Sales for over thirty-five years. Beginning as their secretary, Peggy was the organizer of the office! She thoroughly enjoyed her position there and the friendships she made there have been lifelong. Peggy was a very hard working, dedicated employee there, right up to her retirement in the early nineties.
Peggy was always dressed to the nines! She took great pride in the way she looked each and every day. Always staying up with the fashions and looking meticulous.
When it came to her family, she loved them dearly. Holidays were very special times over the years. She took great pride in her cooking abilities! Even though she was French, there were no better dishes than her Italian cooking! From the sauce, and meatballs, to the manicotti and brigolle, everything was fabulous! Peggy loved cooking and was never afraid to try new dishes!
Peggy’s sense of humor was next to none! She always enjoyed being with family and friends. Be it dinner, back yard cookouts or walking around the pond, she enjoyed it all.
Be it a kind word, a prayer, meal, assisting the less fortunate, groceries, a ride, or a hug, Peggy was there to help whomever, no questions! A faith filled woman Peggy was an active participant and weekly attendant at Mass, at St. Anthony Church.
Faith, family, and love surrounded Peggy through out her life. She led by example, never looking for anything in return, a legacy that will long be remembered, by those who had the pleasure of knowing Peggy.
Sadly, Peggy was predeceased by her parents and husband Dick. She is lovingly survived by her devoted children Richard T. Grammer Jr., his wife Ginnie of Bridgewater, Donald E. Grammer of Woburn, David M. Grammer, his wife Lisa of ME, Sharon M. Donovan, her husband Denny of Lynnfield, and Lisa A. Grammer, her partner Mary Ward of Woburn. Treasured grandmother of Tanya, Tracey, Michael, Katie, Selena and Ashley and six great-grandchildren . Dear sister of Edwin Lavelle of Westford, Elizabeth Bicheler, her partner Bill White of Woburn and Jeanne Wienkoop of NJ. Also survived by her in-laws, Margaret “Sis” Reilly, her husband Jack., and Jean Grammer all of Woburn as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
