Kathleen “Kay” (Murphy) Shamon –  a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away, Thursday, January 5th. She was the beloved wife of 64 years to the late Thomas “John” Shamon.

Born in Melrose and raised in Woburn, she attended St. Charles’ schools for the full 12 years, during which time she became a member of a circle of friends whose weekly meeting continued for over 70 years.

After graduation from High School, she worked as an inventory control specialist for firms in Boston and Cambridge. One of those companies was close to Fenway Park, which may account for her fervent support of the Red Sox.

Kay had a natural green thumb and enjoyed gardening and a penchant for travel. After the deaths of her mother and mother-in-law, Kay continued their practice of entertaining the extended family with large dinners on the major holidays. Even expertly cooking Lebanese fare which her mother-in-law taught her.

Cherished mother of John “Jack” of Dubai, Jeffrey “Ned” of Boston, and Kate (Andrew) Rushford, of Wellesley. Adored grandmother of Gail, Nolan, Matthew, Danna, and Ned. Sister of the late Edmund Murphy and the late Mary Niles along with dear friends, nieces, and nephews.
