ADELINA S. (DOS SANTOS) FERREIRA

Adelina S. (Dos Santos) Ferreira – of Woburn, died peacefully, November 16th with her family by her side at the age of eighty-five. Beloved wife of Manuel G. Ferreira. Devoted mother of Joe Ferreira, his wife Helene of Tewksbury, John Ferreira, his wife Paula of Peabody, Humberto Ferreira, his wife Elena of Tewksbury, Noelia Ferreira, her companion Rob Bernier of Dracut, Dewey Ferreira, his wife April of North Andover, Tony Ferreira, and Paul Ferreira, both of Woburn, and the late Maria Frye, her husband Chris of Tyngsboro. Cherished grandmother of Brenna, Quinn, Katelyn, Abigail, James, Mathew, Cooper, Jayden, Ava, Justin, and Laila. Dear sister of Alice, João, and Antonio Dos Santos, and the late Justino, Feliciano, and Maria Jose Poncha, all of Madeira. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, on Monday, Nov. 21st at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours, Sunday, Nov. 20th from 1-4 p.m. in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, MA 01801.   Remembrances may be made in Adelina’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or Boston Children’s Hospital.

Adelina S. (Dos Santos) Ferreira – of Woburn, died peacefully, November 16th with her family by her side at the age of eighty-five. She was the beloved wife of 60 years Manuel G. Ferreira.

Born in Campanário, on the Portuguese island of Madeira, Adelina was a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Jose Goncalves Dos Santos. Adelina married the love of her life Manuel in 1962 and together raised 8 children. The young family emigrated to the United States in 1981 and started their new life.

Adelina was devoted to her faith, her husband, and her family. She enjoyed being outdoors and taking care of her flower garden, cooking for family and friends and hosting family dinners on Sundays. She was also a communicant of St. Charles Church and a active volunteer for their Portuguese Festivals.

After her children were raised, Adelina worked for the Woburn Public Schools, in the School Lunch Program. She worked in several schools throughout the city, including the High School and Kennedy Junior High.  She later worked as a housekeeper for the Woburn Nursing Center and Aberjona.

She was a strong, kind, generous, and selfless woman who would do anything for her family.  She will be deeply missed.
