Dana C. Daley – of Burlington, formerly of Woburn, MA, died peacefully at home on November 14th, at the age of seventy.  He was the beloved husband of the late Pamela (Piraino) Daley.

Born and raised in Woburn, Dana was the second son of the late John and Eleanor (McEachern) Daley.  Dana attended primary school at St. Charles Catholic School and graduated from Woburn High School in 1970.  For many years, Dana worked for Verizon in special services.  In 2010, he retired and spent his remaining years devoted to his family and friends.

At only 13 years old, Dana met the love of his life, “Pam,” and together, they spent 39 wonderful years building their life, family and home prior to Pam’s passing in 2006.  Married in 1970, Dana and Pam welcomed three sons and a daughter, Paul, Matthew, Michael and Melissa.  Dana was incredibly proud of all his children.  He was their biggest cheerleader and greatest supporter.

Dana was an avid Boston sports fan, and he also enjoyed playing softball at the old Library Field for the V.F.W.  But nothing compares to his lifelong passion for horse racing.  Over the years, Dana owned several horses that raced at the local tracks.  He also took annual trips to Saratoga, NY with his friends and sons to watch the races where he’d post up under a tree with a cooler and the racing form.  Dana had a knack for handicapping; so much so that on the first Saturday of May, friends and family sought his advice on which horse would win the Derby.  More often than not, they’d be pleased with the result.

Dana leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor.  He truly brought the life to the party.

Dana is survived and will be deeply missed by his sons: Paul Daley and his wife Michelle of Nashua, NH; Matthew Daley and his wife Jessica of E. Hampstead, NH; Michael Daley and his wife Alanna of Boston, MA; and his daughter, Melissa Daley, of Boston, MA. Cherished grandfather of Marissa, Lynsey, Jillian, Benjamin, Violet and Michael Jr. and great-grandfather of Ariella and Loreyna.  Dear brother of Barbara R. Daley Skentzos of FL, Stephen M. Daley, his wife Patricia of Woburn, Regina M. Batson, her husband Paul of Hull, Laura J. Marchessault, her husband Steven of N. Waterboro, ME and John F.R. Daley, his wife Cynthia of Eliot, ME, and brother-in-law to Marsha Fuller of Holiday, FL.  Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his caretaker, Cindy Wilson of Woburn.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, on Tuesday, Nov. 22nd, at 10 a.m.  Burial will follow in Woodbrook Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours, Monday, Nov. 21st, from 4-7 p.m. in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, MA 01801.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dana’s memory to the Susan G.
