Douglas H. Leach –  of Woburn, died suddenly in North Conway, New Hampshire, September 2nd, 2022 at seventy years of age.  Beloved husband of Janice (Veno) Leach.  Cherished father of Jeffrey “Jeff” Leach, his wife Ruth of Littleton and Douglas “Doug” J. Leach, his wife Kelly of Woburn.  Dear brother of Donna Balesterier, her husband Al , Diane Bastolla, her husband Angelo all of Tewksbury, Harry Leach, of Lowell, Bruce Leach, his wife Kathy of Dracut, Laurie Smith ,and the late Donald Leach and Dennis Leach.  Loving grandfather of Natalie, Aaron, Adam and Ava Leach.  Very special brother in law of Ray Veno, his wife Veronika and Doug Veno, his wife Denise.  Doug was also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a very proud member of the Woburn Kiwanis.   A Funeral Service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Friday, September 16th at 10 A.M.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours at the Funeral Home on Thursday, September 15th from 3-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Woburn Kiwanis Club PO Box 521, Woburn, MA  01801

Douglas “Doug” H. Leach of Woburn passed away unexpectedly September 2nd while spending the weekend at his property on the Saco River in Conway, NH.  The beloved husband of Janice (Veno) Leach, he was seventy years of age.

Born in Lynn, Doug was raised and educated in Burlington.  He was one of eight children and is predeceased by his parents Harry and Harria (Wilder) Leach and his brothers Donald Leach and Dennis Leach.

Doug was raised and educated in Burlington and entered the workforce immediately following high school. He was a mechanic at Bob Brest Buick in Lynn for many years, as well as at Muzi Motors in Needham for twenty-eight years, retiring in July of 2021.

He met Janice in 1976 and they married the following year, raised two sons, and spent a wonderful 45 years together. He and Janice loved traveling and seeking out new adventures. Doug was known to all as an easy-going guy, could strike up a conversation with anyone, and could make complete strangers feel like they were old friends. He dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and they adored their “Papa Cheez-it.”

Doug was a natural athlete in his younger years and enjoyed playing goalie in an adult hockey league as well as bowling and horseshoes. He was a die-hard sports fan and loved watching the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, Bruins and NASCAR. One of his proudest accomplishments in life was being an active member of the Woburn Kiwanis.  Whether it was selling Christmas trees (he became known as the “tree hugger”), Christmas celebrations on the Common, or Flag Day at Library Field, he loved being part of the Kiwanis’ mission to help children.

In addition to his wife Janice, Doug is survived by his son Jeffrey Leach, Jeffrey’s wife Ruth and their daughter Natalie of Littleton, MA; his son Douglas J. Leach, Douglas’ wife Kelly and their children Aaron, Adam and Ava of Woburn, MA; his sister Donna Balestrier and her husband Al of Tewksbury, MA; his sister Diane Bastolla and her husband Angelo of Tewksbury, MA; his brother Harry Leach of Lowell; his brother Bruce Leach and his wife Kathy of Dracut, MA; his sister, Lori Smith;  his brother-in-law Raymond Veno and his wife Veronika; his brother-in-law Douglas Veno and his wife Denise, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street on Thursday, September 15th from 3:00-7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home on Friday, September 16th at 10:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Woburn Kiwanis Club, P.O. Box 521, Woburn, MA  01801.

So sad to receive this terrible news I can’t believe my friend Doug has passed away, I had the honor to work with Doug for 10 years he was an amazing person and a good friend who helped me as i was a new he welcomed me and always said that his tool box is open if I needed anything , every morning before we started work we chatted ab anything, mostly family he loved spending time with his grandkids and how he could not wait to retire and enjoy life with his family,
