John J. Castro – of Tewksbury, formerly of Woburn, died peacefully, July 23rd at the age of sixty-nine. He was the beloved husband of 40 years to Camellia T. “Cammy” (Ste. Croix) Castro.
Born in Somerville and raised in Winchester, John was a son of the late John and Marie (Troisi) Castro. He was a graduate of Winchester High School.

John worked for Bank of America, formerly BayBank and Bank of Boston, for more than three decades and held many roles over the years. He enjoyed being around people and employing his proficiency with numbers; he formed many life-long relationships during his banking career.

Having recently retired, John looked forward to spending more time with his wife and partaking in his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed frequenting car shows and was a classic car enthusiast, his favorites being Cadillacs and Corvettes. John was a sci-fi and horror enthusiast and delighted in movie nights with his nephews. He loved taking day trips to the North Shore, visiting family in Canada, and vacationing anywhere from Cape Cod to the Caribbean. In his spare time, John enjoyed solving word puzzles and maintaining his garden.

His most cherished times were spent with his family, entertaining them in his home and making them a hearty Italian meal or strong espresso martini. He was quick-witted and had a history of being a prankster. John was known for his impeccable taste and was often sought after by family and friends for interior decorating advice.

John will be best remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, bright and gentle nature, and love for family and friends.

In addition to his wife Cammy, John is the proud father of Gabrielle M. Roy, her husband Christopher of S. Hamilton, MA. Loving brother of Jude Castro, his wife Martha of Wellesley and Ann Johnson, her husband Edward of Wilmington. Dear brother-in-law of Gary Ste. Croix, his wife Amy of Chester, NH and Brian Ste. Croix, his wife Mary of Marshfield, MA. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and his treasured dog, Grayson.
