Josephine C. (Scolaro) Jaconetti – resident of New Horizons at Choate, Woburn, formerly of NYC, NJ and GA died peacefully, July 18th at the age of ninety-one. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Jaconetti Jr.

Josephine “Jo or Josie”, was the daughter of the late Sam and Mary (Mortellaro) Scolaro of NYC and Tampa, Florida. She was a graduate of Seward Park High School.

She leaves behind daughter Jeanmarie Santomassimo, her husband CL of Woburn and son James Jaconetti, his wife Susan of Rocky Face, GA. and was grandmother of Jessica and Sarah Jaconetti. Loving sister of Frances “Cookie” Berdan, her husband Warren and proud aunt of Laurie of Queens, NY.

Jo had friends and relatives in NY, GA, Florida and Massachusetts but her heart always belonged to NYC.

She will be cremated, and her ashes legally spread in Central Park.  Josie met her husband John as part of a gang of friends on the east side of NY. As their parents waited on their apartment stoops for the teens to come home on the subway, the gang would sing “Heart of My Heart” at the top of their lungs. This way everyone knew they were coming home safe.

Upon scattering her ashes in Central Park “Heart of My Heart” will be playing. This way New York will know that Josie is, indeed, home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Josephine’s memory to the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network .
