Kathleen T. “Terry” (Varey) McCormick passed away Friday, May 27th at the Lahey Clinic.  The beloved wife of Robert J. “Bob” McCormick, she was seventy-four years of age.

Born in Woburn “Terry”  as she was affectionately known throughout her life ,was the oldest of two children born to the late Robert W. “Bob” and Norma (Haggerty) Varey.

Raised and educated in Woburn, Terry was very active all throughout her high school years.  She was an active member of the Class of 1965, participating in the various sporting ventures (particularly basketball!) and committees for everything there was a committee for!

Terry and Bob were high school sweethearts and married  in 1970.  They brought into the world three sons and two daughters.  Needless to say, Terry was quite active in all that her children were involved in.  Summer months were always spent at “the Lake” in  Winnipesaukee. This is where family fun was abounding!  Friends, relatives and friends of friends all would gather for their enjoyment!  Cookouts, swimming, walks up the road, boating and waterskiing, kept everyone very active during their time there!  And of course, Terry’s most favorite time of the summer was the Fourth of July, with celebrations galore, always with her family.

Terry loved being “Nana” to her ten grandchildren and was quite excited about the eleventh one on the way!  Unconditionally, Terry was totally invested to each one, as an individual, and loved them all as a group.  They are all as active as their parents were, in sports and Terry made every effort to be at whatever the sporting event was, for which ever grandchild, Nana was there cheering them all on.  Near or far, this state or another, if there was a grandchild involved, Nana made every effort to be there.  Terry loved being their “Nana.”

Vacations in Florida, cards on Friday night, more inside jokes than can be counted, and endless laughter with her cousins by fate but friends by choice will always be memories treasured.

Terry had also served for years on the City of Woburn’s Recreational Committee, she was one of the founding members of the “Friends of Woburn Basketball,” and had also spent a great deal of time assisting the Woburn Booster Club.

In 2007, sadly her husband Bob had passed away, unexpectedly, but Terry had kept the faith, and carried on the family legacy with her whole heart.  With her five children and grandchildren, Terry kept her thumb on the pulse, and carried on, like she had the first thirty seven years .

Terry throughout her lifetime was a very kind, sincere person who never stopped sharing.   There was not a mean bone in her body and the unconditional love she had for her family, often extended further, to those who were in need.  She was everybody’s friend.  Her Faith, her family and her love are what Terry shared with us throughout the years.
