John F. Coviello – of Woburn, died peacefully, May 8th at the age of 62. He was the cherished husband of 19 years to Jennifer (Kelly) Coviello and father to Katherine, Susannah, John, and Nicholas Coviello.

Born and raised in the North End of Boston, John was a loving son of the late Carmine and Anna (Mandarano) Coviello. He graduated from Don Bosco High School and received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Northeastern University.

John’s 40+ year career in the hospitality industry led him to work for almost every major hotel in downtown Boston in roles that spanned from security to housekeeping to function bartending. John’s most recent position was at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Crossing, formerly known as the Swissotel.

John was known for his strong faith in God and was a longtime active member of the St. Charles Church community. He kept in touch with his best friends every week for his entire life and never faltered in his love for the countless friends that he considered to be family. He loved his large circle of friends and his many extended family members dearly. He was a generous, kind, loving, intelligent, and faith-filled husband, father, son, and brother. Everyone in his community knew that he was always the first one to help someone in need and lend a helping hand.

John was happiest when he was traveling with his family. Their travels took John to every state in New England, Texas, Florida, up and down the East coast, and all over Massachusetts. He loved jumping in the car and taking local day trips with his family. He was an avid history buff and was always the first to share his vast knowledge with his friends and family at history museums and trivia nights. His friends and family will miss him dearly, but his memory will live on in the many stories and memories he gave his loved ones.

Along with his wife Jennifer, John is survived and will be deeply missed by his children, Katherine, Susannah, John, & Nicholas “Nick Nack” Coviello, all of Woburn. Dear brother of Michael Coviello of the North End, and the late Carmine Anthony Coviello. Treasured son-in-law of Joseph and Virginia Kelly of New York. John is also survived by his loving bonus mother “T.T”, Phyllis Carangelo and many cousins around the world, as well as countless friends who he considered part of his family.

  1. I knew you when we were kids. So sorry to your wife and kids. I believe your with Anna and Carmine. Rest in peace. xxoo

  2. We are saddened to hear of John’s passing. John and I worked together many late nights and weekends as part of the Technology Group at Saint Charles school. John was always available to help out where needed at a moments notice. I honestly don’t know how he found the time to work, help out at the school and be a father of young children. Our condolences to Jennifer and the kids. Take care during this difficult time and God bless.

St. Francis of Assisi comes to mind when I think of John. He loved family, friends and God. A true friend that I will miss always that I’ve known since we were 18. Too young to be gone, but never forgotten. God speed John❤️

John was a proud family man and a warm and kind person. John was also extremely smart! I have been playing Words with Friends for many years with John and never beat him! Only recently, when I boasted of getting close to beating him that he admitted he was sick. Very heartbreaking to hear, and now to learn of his passing. My heart goes out to his entire family at this sad time.

Rest In Peace John. You will be greatly missed at St. Charles. My prayers to Jen and your children.

  15. John, we go way back to the Altavesta when I was the secretary and you would bring your little one in for speech lessons. It was always nice to see you pick up the boys from school and after I retired to see you there as I was picking up my grandchildren. I will miss seeing your smiling face at church as you helped out doing the many tasks needed. May God keep you safe now and bless your family. RIP my friend Lois Surette

  16. Mary Galindo

Our prayers are with Jennifer and the kids. We are so sorry to hear of John’s passing. We are most thankful for his gift of friendship and his generosity in helping our parish of St. Charles. He always greeted us with a smile and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed. We got to be really good friends in recent years.

    With deep sympathy and love,
    Mary, JJ and Brian Galindo
