Norma R. (Osgood) Griffith – passed away after a very brief illness, Friday evening April 29th, 2022 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice Home in Reading. The beloved wife of Richard S. “Dick” Griffith, she was ninety years of age.
Born in Boston ,MA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ellen (Cavanaugh) Osgood. Raised in Everett, Norma attended the Everett public schools and was one of the youngest to graduate Everett High School as Valedictorian of her Class (1948) having just turned sixteen years of age!
After graduation, Norma secured a position at New England Mutual Life Insurance Company for four years. At the age of eighteen she met Richard Griffith. They had the opportunity of one date prior to Dick’s departure in the United States Marine Corp. When he came home two years later, she had waited for their next date! Well, when he returned to California, Norma was at his side, as Mrs. Griffth’s and they travelled together for the next seventy years as husband and wife.
Once returning from California after Dick’s discharge, they lived in Everett for a brief time and then to Woburn, where they have made their home for well over sixty years. They were no strangers to travelling. They covered Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and all over the United States and Canada.
Dick has been actively involved with Antique cars, particularly in the restoration of them. So they belonged to several clubs, where they would all travel together throughout New England and Canada and Norma would be right there for the rides! Many wonderful friendships were established through these different groups and they shared some truly memorable moments.
A very outgoing, fun loving and caring person, Norma had established many friends while living in Everett and had maintained those friendships over the years. She enjoyed being active so when she was not walking, she could be found in the Woburn Bowladrome on a weekly basis. Norma thoroughly enjoyed the comradery and friendships she established over the years.
Dick and Norma shared a wonderful relationship with their nieces and nephews. Where they were not blessed with children, they were very, very, active in the lives of their nieces and nephews. Always actively involved in their accomplishments and activities, and all joining together for the holidays certainly completed their circle of life, in a most beautiful way.

My condolences to Dick and their family. Norma and Dick were so supportive of the V8 Club. I enjoyed being with them at the events.
Norma and Dick were my childhood neighbors and a part of many family cook outs and gatherings. Norma was always sweet with a smile on her face Although the years have gone by she and Dick always keep a special spot in my heart
