Joseph “Joey” Bastolla passed away after a brief illness In Tampa, Florida  Wednesday, April 20th, 2022.  The beloved husband of Cesar Jimenez, he was fifty-seven years of age.

Born in Woburn, Joey was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Stella) Bastolla.  Being one of five children, needless to say growing up they all had each other to play and hang out with.

Joey went to Woburn Schools and was a graduate of Woburn High School along with the Class of 1982. Following high school, Joey went to Boston University where he majored in Communications receiving his Bachelor’s. Later, he attended the University of Phoenix and received his Master’s Degree.

Joey entered the airline industry as a flight attendant over thirty-five years ago and love it from the moment he began. He worked for Continental, which later became United and there he developed his airline family.

He was able to travel the world, and travel he did! There was not a country he didn’t visit, an island or a capital he didn’t visit he took it all in.

Joey began living in Florida years ago and when he and his partner Cesar married, it was at Disney World, which was Joey’s most favorite place in all of the world.  This is where family and friends gathered for a truly wonderful evening, with all the characters there too, in celebrating  this wonderful occasion..

Family and friends visited them frequently and their visit was never complete without at least one day at Disney World!

A gregarious, and gentle, young man,  Joey was always so very kind and thoughtful,  putting others first, ahead of himself.  A very devout Catholic, Joey was always helping out at church, teaching CCD, reaching out to the less fortunate.

When it came to his family, it was unconditional love all the way around. They are a very devoted family, not only to each other but also to their religious beliefs and their love of God and country.  Joey was truly a wonderful man who brought a great amount of joy, to those who had the pleasure spending any kind of time with him.

Sadly, Joey was pre deceased by his Mom, Dad, and sister Frances LeFave.

Joey is lovingly survived by his husband Cesar Jimenez, his siblings, Rose Jordan of AL, Margaret Lisacki, her husband Paul, Lou Bastolla all of Woburn. Loving uncle of Dana LeFave, Kristina Devejian, her husband Dean and Kathy Soto-Jimenez,  Joey is also survived by countless friends and colleagues.

I am so sorry for your loss. Joey was such a special man with an infectious smile and my friend for 36 years. We met when we flew for People Express and were all too young to envision heartbreak like this. Joey will be missed by all who’ve known him.
