Michael J. Loftus – of Winchester, died peacefully after a long illness, Friday, February 4th, at his home with his family by his side. The beloved husband of Alan Citron, Michael was 70 years of age.

Michael was born in the Bronx, NY, in 1951 to loving parents, the late Raymond and Marion. He left the Bronx, and hitchhiked all around the US, enjoying the great outdoors and meeting new and interesting people, but always came back East to visit family. In 1982, while working in Provincetown, Michael met Alan. It was love at first sight. They made their home together in Winchester and married soon after same-sex marriage was legalized in Massachusetts.

Michaels interests were quite varied. He loved hiking, running, music and above all, books. He was a voracious reader and an accomplished poet. He authored a large collection of poems as well as many beautiful tributes for family and friends.

Michael had a varied work history including 20 years in the Visual Services Department at Atrius Health. He loved working with people and was highly respected by his co-workers who regarded him as a kind, fun-loving person who was always up for playful antics. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
