Stephen D. Holland – of Reading, formerly of Woburn, unexpectedly, January 5th at the age of fifty-eight. Beloved husband of Liz M. (Mullen) Holland. Proud father of Patrick and Peter Holland. Beloved son of Dorothea “Dotty” Holland of Woburn and the late William P. Holland. Cherished brother of Bob, his wife Michele and John, his wife Colleen, all of Woburn, Jim, of Londonderry, NH, Michael, his wife Colleen of Morris Township, NJ, Joe, his wife Kelley of Chelmsford and the late William P. Holland, Jr. Loving son-in-law of Mary and the late Francis Mullen of Norwell and brother-in-law of Deb Holland of Manchester, Michael Mullen, his wife Carole of Marshfield and the late Greg Mullen, his wife Paula of Franklin. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, friends, and his black Labrador Lucky.  Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 13th at the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn. All other services are private. Stephen D. Holland – of Reading, formerly of Woburn, died unexpectedly, January 5th at the age of fifty-eight. He was the beloved husband of 32 years to Liz M. (Mullen) Holland.

Born and raised in Woburn, Stephen was one of 7 sons born of Dorothea “Dotty” Holland of Woburn and the late William P. Holland. He attended St Charles School in Woburn and was a graduate of Woburn Memorial High School Class of 1981. He received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Providence College. While attending Providence, he met Liz M. (Mullen) who became his best friend. 

In 1988, Stephen married Liz and went on to make their home in Reading where they raised their two sons, Patrick and Peter. 

For over 20 years Stephen worked in the mortgage banking industry. He then went on to to work for his brother Bobby. He helped him oversee his real estate companies and manage Holland Used Auto Parts. Stephen really enjoyed being able to work along side his family. 

Stephen’s favorite role in life was being a devoted father to his sons. He went skiing with Patrick to several mountains every winter. He coached Peter in Pop Warner Football and Reading Youth Baseball. 

Stephen took the family on many vacations over the years to beaches, baseball parks, amusement parks, and famous attractions. His favorite trip was to California in 2004. 

Along with his wife Liz and sons Patrick and Peter, Stephen is survived by his mother Dotty.     I am very sorry to hear that Steven passed. I can only imagine what you are going through kissing a son and brother. Even though it has been a long time since we all lived in Woburn, and even longer since going to St.Charles and playing sports in your backyard on Arlington Road, the memories last.
