Edward V. McCabe Sr., passed away peacefully in Pleasanton, CA on Thursday December 30, 2021, at the age of eighty-two. He was the beloved husband of the late Rosalind M. (Brunette) McCabe.

Born in Lawrence, Eddie moved to Woburn as a child. He attended St. Charles School, continued onto a trade school where he learned cooking which would later become his profession.

Eddie first worked at the White Spot at the Four Corners in Woburn. He became an Executive Chef at the Colonial Hilton in Wakefield, where he met numerous sports figures over the years, and later a chef at the Country Club Heights. He was also a smiling face on Thursday and Friday nights at Ralph Bishop’s Seafood in the center, where he cooked for 33 years.

Eddie met his wife Rosalind and they wed in 1968. Together they had three children, to whom they were devoted: Edward Jr., Kathleen, and Lorinda. Eddie was a hardworking man, often working three jobs at one time.

Family meant the world to him, and he would do anything to support them.

He enjoyed game nights, card games being his favorite, often playing till the early morning hours with family and friends. Eddie enjoyed holidays and family vacations and loved seeing the excitement of his kids and later his grandkids. He loved telling jokes, playing bingo, going to a ball game, and trying his luck on the lottery.

Shortly after the passing of his wife, Eddie moved to California to live with his daughter Kathleen and her family. He spent part of his time volunteering at Open Heart Kitchen and the Pleasanton Senior Center while making friends.

His grandkids kept him active. He enjoyed going to their soccer games, playing board games, and talking about their sports and academic achievements. He was so proud of them!

Eddie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Devoted father and cherished grandpa, he is survived by son Edward V. McCabe Jr., his wife Teresa, and their children Matthew and Christina of Woburn, daughter Kathleen Carrothers, her husband Timothy and their two children of CA, and Lorinda McCabe, her husband Leo of Woburn.

Arrangements are private and under the direction of the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, Ma 01801.

Ed was one of the best people I ever worked with. Great guy! I worked with Ed at Ralph Bishops Seafood Thursday and Friday nights. To this day I still remember Ed’s version of ‘Hale Mary’ while cleaning the grease in the fryer. He will be forever remembered! Prayers to all of his family during this heartbreak. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

  2. I worked with Eddie at Ralph Bishops from 1978 to 81. He was a great guy to work with. RIP.
