Julie (Berchtold) Wells, age 64, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2021 in Daytona Beach, Florida, after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her parents Robert Berchtold and Elizabeth (Hautala) Berchtold.

Julie grew up in the North Woburn area of the city and attended Woburn Schools graduating with the class of 1975. She enjoyed a career as a waitress and flourished in that field making many lifelong friends. Julie opened a diner called “Julie’s” with her beloved mother. The restaurant was extremely popular for its home cooked breakfasts, lunches and family atmosphere, which kept loyal customers returning to the restaurant every day.

Growing up Julie loved visiting with her cousins in Gloucester spending several weeks every summer swimming and soaking up the sun. She would always talk about the fond memories she had during that time in her life. Julie had a deep love for animals and would often feed the neighborhood cats sometimes at the dismay of her neighbors. In her twenties and thirties, she loved going up to her place in Maine where she grew corn and other vegetables, having a farmer’s market every weekend during the summer. She loved talking with the people that stopped for vegetables. Julie never knew a stranger and would always go out of her way to make you feel welcomed. Julie loved her family. “We Are Family” was her favorite song and she would often play it when everyone was together, getting up to dance with shouts of joy.

Julie moved to Daytona Beach, Florida over 20 years ago. She loved living by the ocean, the beautiful beaches and the nice hot weather. She enjoyed sitting by the water with friends and family when they came down to visit.

Julie is survived by her sisters, Jeanne Kullmann and her husband Udo of Berlin, Germany, Joanne Campbell and her husband William of Woburn, Marianne Girouard and her husband Paul of Woburn, Dr. Patricia Ramseyer and her husband Fred of Chelmsford and her brother Robert Berchtold and his wife Mary of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida as well as many nieces and nephews.
