Maria D. (Correia) Bentubo – of Woburn, Sunday, September 5th. She was 68 years of age. Beloved wife of James “Jimmy” R. Bentubo, just days shy of their 43rd wedding anniversary. Loving mother of Katherine “Kathy” Sanchez, her husband Miguel of NC, James “Jim” R. Bentubo Jr., his wife Kelly of NC and Kimberly “ Kimmie” Bentubo of Woburn. Dear sister of Nevinhas Batista and the late Antonio Correia. Cherished grandmother of Taylor and Christian “CJ” Sanchez, Kasey, Andrew, Riley, and Colin Syring. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch – Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St. Woburn, on Thursday, September 9th, at 11am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 160 Washington St. Winchester, at noon.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to  Calling hours in the Lynch – Cantillon Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 8th, from 4 – 7 pm. Maria D. (Correia) Bentubo – of Woburn, formerly of Cambridge, died peacefully, Sunday, September 5th at her home with her family by her side, at the age of sixty-eight. She was the beloved wife of James “Jimmy” R. Bentubo, with whom she would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on September 10. 

Born and raised on São Miguel Island, Azores, Maria was the loving daughter of the late Jose and Justa Correia. On a vacation to Boston, Maria met Jimmy, who she fell in love with and married. After marrying in the Azores, they moved to Cambridge until ultimately settling and raising their family in Woburn.

For more than 30 years, Maria worked for the CAAS Head Start Program in Cambridge, where she helped enrich the lives of toddlers, children and parents alike. Her love and patience for children were unquestionable, and that joy shown when working with them. 

Maria loved to traveled. She had the pleasure of traveling to more than a dozen European cities and experiencing a Disney cruise with her family to the Bahamas.

The holidays were her favorite time of the year. She enjoyed hosting as well as visiting family in North Carolina. Being surrounded by her family was her greatest joy, and she reveled in playing competitive games of Rummy 500 and Hearts. 

Maria was a selfless, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed but always remembered in the hearts of the ones who she loved most.

Along with her husband Jimmy, Maria is survived by her children, Katherine “Kathy” Sanchez and her husband Miguel of NC; James “Jim” R. Bentubo Jr. and his wife Kelly of NC; and Kimberly “ Kimmie” Bentubo of Woburn. She was the dear sister of Nevinhas Batista and the late Antonio Correia, and the cherished grandmother of Taylor and Christian “CJ” Sanchez; and Kasey, Andrew, Riley, and Colin Syring. 

A Funeral will be held from the Lynch – Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St. Woburn, on Thursday, September 9th, at 11am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church 160 Washington St. Winchester, MA. Calling hours will be held in the Lynch – Cantillon Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 8th, from 4-7pm.   1. My Querida my heart hurts over reading my texts of you I don’t believe it ! And to you Kathy ,Jimmy ,Kimmy And Jim Sr your Mom always smiled upon talking about you all on your accomplishments and the joy of your children always made her day . I always remember trips to the mall and finding the best deals at Macy’s and designer bags and shoes at Burlington mall and having her regular fish filet w my Mom and we ate hamburgers at McDonalds and Jimmy watching football at my house and all my sleepovers at Laura Road I have these memories of all the laughs and memories in my heart forever. I know you are at a better place may the angels welcome you to paradise and no longer suffering love you always

  2. Jimmy, Kathy, Jim and Kimmie,
    I am so sorry. Nothing I can say or do can make what you are going through any easier. Just know that I’ve been thinking of you all. Also, remember all the great times that you had together. I do miss all our family trips our parents took us on. Those are some of my best memories as a kid. Lots of laughs. Our parents were always thinking of the next trip to take. xoxoxoxo
