Joan Lee (Kelley) Jackowictz – a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away unexpectedly at Winchester Hospital, July 20th at the age of seventy-five.  Joan is the beloved wife and best friend of 47 years to the late Joseph K. Jackowictz Jr.

Born in Woburn, Joan was a daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn (Short) Kelley. She was raised and educated in Woburn and is a graduate of Woburn High School, Class of 1964.

In her younger years, Joan stayed home caring for her daughter, her only child, Cheryl. Then overtime went on to work effortlessly serving and greeting those within her community.

Joan was an optimistic woman who lived each day to the fullest. She continually lived her life with so much hope and positivity and had an admirable amount of strength. She had a witty sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh. Joan was avid reader and loved discussing books and taking trips to the library. In recent years, she would be up for any type of adventure near and far with family and friends. Her sparkly blue eyes and bright smile would light up at the simplest joys in life. As a breast cancer survivor, she also enjoyed volunteering whenever possible for the Tanner Ta Ta Foundation.

Over the years, Joan and Joe enjoyed several cruises to Bermuda together. The two loved gardening and created a welcoming home for gatherings with dear friends and family. Joan was devoted to her daughter Cheryl, and the two often played jokes on each other. Joan also shared a special bond with her granddaughter, Cori. The two of them were best friends and often spent time playing countless rounds of Yahtzee or Scrabble while drinking iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts.

Joan is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Jackowictz and her granddaughter Cori Gagnon, both of Woburn, her siblings, Donald J. Kelley, his wife Nancy, David C. Kelley, his wife Lorraine, Karen M. D’Agostino, her husband Guy, all of Woburn, Carol L. Newmark, her husband Ray of Natick and Lynne J. Welch, her husband Joseph of Lexington. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
