Janice M. (Kelly) McDermott – of Woburn, died peacefully, at Lahey Clinic, July 15th at seventy years of age. She was the beloved wife of 47 years to William P. McDermott Jr. of Woburn.

Born in Boston and raised in Newton, Janice was a daughter of the late John and Marie Kelly. She was a graduate of Our Lady of Presentation Academy in Brighton and attended Suffolk University.

For many years, Janice was the owner and operator of Group Mailing Services until her retirement to become a loving grandmother.

Janice loved all things Disney. She joined her family by visiting Disney World over 30 times and experiencing each of her grandchildren’s first visit, as well as having the honor of taking them individually for their 5th birthday. Illness could not stop her from joining in on these experiences.  She gladly rode on her scooter, buzzing through the crowds of all the Walt Disney World parks. She completed a Disney 5k run with rolling encouragement by her daughters. She also enjoyed cruising with Disney.  In 2019 she achieved her “grand slam” by sailing on all four Disney ships.

Janice’s family was her world! She was loving, supportive and devoted to them all. Her smile would always brighten your day no matter what the circumstances.  She was a connoisseur of boxed wine and enjoyed the simple things in life. Wednesday mornings you could always find her at her Breakfast meeting with the girls.  She was active as a Girl Scout Leader, a member of St. Joseph’s Youth group, her bowling league, a volunteer at Winchester Hospital and many activities at the Goodyear School.  When she told a story you knew you had to get comfortable because you knew you would be there for a while.  She had a photographic memory with anything to do with her life.  She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Along with her husband Bill, Janice is survived by her daughters Sharon Crispo, her husband Jay of Woburn and Heather Napoleone, her husband Michael of Wakefield. Devoted “Nonay” to her grandchildren Lucas, Hailey, Alex and Taylor. Dear sister of Maureen L. Scanlan of Marblehead. Much loved Godson, Robert Feliciano of Boca Raton, FL.  Cherished friends Jane Kenton of Woburn, Cathy Durant of Mashpee and Lois Jensen of Hope, ME and mother-in-law Doris McDermott of Burlington. Also survived by her beloved dog, Gracie.  “Jancy” will be deeply missed by the entire “Kelly Clan”.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Janice’s Funeral Mass, Monday, July 19th at 10 a.m., at St. Veronica Parish, in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn Street, Burlington.
