Josephine L. (Freni) Michaels passed away, Tuesday evening, June 29th  at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading , with her beloved children by her side.  The devoted wife of the late Augustine J. Michaels, she was eighty seven years of age.

Born in Arlington,  Josephine was the daughter of the late John and Grace (Tavilla) Freni.  Raised and educated in Arlington, Josephine was a graduate of Arlington High School along with the Class of 1952.  Josephine continued on with her education at Chandler Business School in Boston, for two years.

Entering into the business world Josephine secured herself a position at the Utica Insurance Co.,   In 1955 she married the true love of her life, Augustine, to whom she was devoted to for well over sixty years.  In 1960 she and Augustine purchased a home in the West Side of Woburn, where they devoted themselves to having a lovely home and four beautiful children, three daughters and a son.

Josephine dedicated herself to her home and to her family always doing and providing only the best for her family.  Cooking was pure joy to Josephine!  She cooked everything , with the main focus being an Italian cuisine!  Every dinner was beautifully prepared for all and everything made from scratch!  Sauces, spaghetti, ravioli and many other pasta’s all made by hand!  Sixteen dozen ravioli’s for Christmas Eve, a huge pot of meat balls every Sunday for years for her son and friends during football season and when any one stopped in, there was always room for one more!

Saturdays, she and Augustine would take long rides to wherever it was they wanted to go (or wound up!) always enjoying the journey!  She had a wonderful journey back to her parents homeland of Italy. Josephine was able to meet a lot of relatives and friends of her parents  family along with visiting their hometowns and seeing where they were born.  Really a trip that she truly loved.  As the family grew and grandchildren began arriving and then great grand children” Grammie/Grammy” was the monica, and she loved it.  As the granddaughters  got older they absolutely loved spend time with her!  They would include her in their plans often times and one of those times was to go and visit her brother in AZ!  They had such a wonderful time, they wound up doing it several more times having a ball!!

Sundays was always home made pizza day!  Family members would always gather to enjoy, great food along with great company.and conversation!

Josephine lived life to the fullest with vim and vigor right up to the end. Throughout her life she surrounded herself with her family, good friends and enjoyable times, enjoying it all..  A woman of great character, a wonderful love of family  and a very strong faith, has truly left a legacy, that will long be remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing and sharing life with Josephine.
