Jeanne A. (Fletcher) McKenna – of Mashpee, formerly of Burlington and Woburn, died peacefully, June 24th, at the age of sixty-seven. Beloved wife of 44 years to Richard McKenna. Devoted mother of Laurie Mega, her husband Yair of Woburn and Maureen McKenna, her wife Diem Bui of Versiouix, Switzerald. Cherished “Nana” of Ian, Nathaniel, Matthew, Jack and Montgomery. Dear sister of William Fletcher, his wife Kelley, Michael Fletcher, his wife Susan all of Oaks Bluff, Robert Fletcher, his wife Ellen of West Bridgewater and Thomas Fletcher, his companion Barbara of Stowe, VT. Also survived by  her sister-in-law Mary McKenna and her husband David Sullivan, brother-in-law Bill McKenna, his wife Karen, brother-in-law David McKenna, sister-in-law Jeannie Sullivan, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Jeanne’s Funeral Mass, Thursday, July 1st at 10 a.m., at St. Veronica Parish, in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn Street, Burlington. Interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester. Those who wish, may pay their respects prior to the Mass from 8:30-9:45 a.m., in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn MA. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Jeanne’s memory to the Cape Cod Healthcare Dementia & Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support 4 Bayview St, West Yarmouth, MA 02673 or Bridges by EPOCH at Mashpee 462 Old Barnstable Rd, Mashpee, MA 02649.

Jeanne Ann (Fletcher) McKenna – of Mashpee, formerly of Woburn, Burlington, and Hyde Park, VT, died peacefully on June 24th, with her family by her side, at the age of 67. She was the beloved wife of 44 years to Richard McKenna, and mother of Laurie Mega and Maureen McKenna.

Born in 1954, Jeanne was the daughter of the late William and Elinor (Kilroy) Fletcher. She was raised in Woburn and Burlington and graduated from Woburn High School, in 1972. She attended Youville Hospital School of Practical Nursing in Cambridge, MA, where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse.

As a nurse, Jeanne worked at Youville Hospital, most notably as a hospice nurse. When her children were born, she became a stay-at-home mom. Once they were grown, she worked for many years at Stowe Area Association in Stowe, VT.

Jeanne was known for her compassion, kindness, positivity, and goofy sense of humor. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and wife. After the untimely passing of her father, she was instrumental in helping raise her younger siblings. She was deeply involved in her daughters’ education and activities, and she was always the fun aunt and Nana.

When Jeanne lived in Vermont, she was very involved in the local community theater. She was an avid cross-country skier and hiker. She also loved to walk, swim, and just sit by the ocean and watch the waves with Richard.

Jeanne is survived by her husband, Richard McKenna, as well as daughter Laurie Mega of Woburn and her husband Yair; and daughter Maureen McKenna of Versoix, Switzerland and her wife Diem. 

She was the cherished Nana of Ian, Nathaniel, Matthew, Jack and Montgomery. She was the dear sister of William Fletcher and his wife Kelly, Michael Fletcher and his wife Susan, Robert Fletcher and his wife Ellen, and Thomas Fletcher and his fiancée Barbara Neill. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary McKenna and her husband David Sullivan, brother-in-law Bill McKenna, his wife Karen, brother-in-law David McKenna, sister-in-law Jeannie Sullivan, as well as her nieces and nephews, Bobbie, Alex, Christopher, Eric, Sara, Alison, Michael, Kerri and Jimmy.

  13. So many year s since Jeanne and I worked together at Stowe Area Association, but the memories are vivid and filled with the sound of her laugh. Humor got us through whatever stresses the members and guests threw our way. A valuable life lesson we learned together. Laurie, Maureen, Rich, I am so sorry for your loss, and hoping that there is some comfort in the memories of the bright and wide light that Jeanne cast on all of us who were near her.
