Louis J. “Louie” Macinanti – a lifelong resident of Woburn and founder of the South End’s famous Louie’s Pizza, sadly passed away, surrounded by his family, on the morning of June 23, 2021 at the age of 91. He was the beloved husband of Filomena Tvardei Macinanti and the late Anna Mae (Muraco) Macinanti.

He is one of the last of a generation of Macinanti’s that was born in 1930 to Italian immigrants, Esterina (Fedeli) and Antonio Macinanti. He was one of eleven children and is preceded in death by his siblings: Antonio, Angelo, Raymond and Richie Macinanti, Mary Mancuso, Vienna DeSalvo, Mimma Maurer-Bavuso, Viola Kray and Mildred Tortorella.

In 1951, Louie married his longtime love, Anna-Mae Macinanti (Muraco), to whom he was married to for 59 wonderful years, until her passing in 2011.  They traveled together, laughed a lot and loved the family they created. In 2012, Louie met his current wife, Filomena Tvardei, who gave him a second lease on life. They enjoyed traveling together, especially to Brazil and made so many beautiful memories.

He was the owner and namesake of Louie’s Pizza on Main Street in Woburn, which is where for most of his days he happily operated. He was still helping make that special pizza dough with his grandsons, just months before his passing. He loved to travel anywhere there was a beach or where it was hot, especially the Islands. He often, generously took his family with him. Some of his favorite places were Ogunquit beach, Atlantic City and Las Vegas, where he loved to try his luck at the Craps and Black Jack tables.  He was the type of man who would come home and generously disperse money to his kids and grandkids.  He had a deep love for his family and truly lived a life of his own. He was a role model and guiding force for all who knew him and was a special man to many people. He will forever be a part of all our lives and hearts.

He is survived by so many who will honor his life until the last of their days. He is survived by his wife of 5 years, Filomena Tvardei, who provided exceptional love and care to Louie in his last years of life and the family of Louie is forever grateful; his beloved children, whom he loved with everything he had; Janice Ennion (Macinanti) of Billerica and Louis Jr. of Woburn, MA and their spouses, Thomas Ennion and Paula Macinanti, whom he loved like his own children; his dear sister Jean Abreu (Macinanti), 95, of Woburn; The pride and joy of his life, his 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, his sweethearts and his boys, will live on in his memory and they will never forget him. They will pass along his life and legacy for all to come; Carrie Cataldo (Ennion), husband Gregory, children Sophia & Olivia of Land O’Lakes, Fl. Jessica Williams (Ennion), husband Zachary, children Annalise & Abigail of Virginia Beach, VA.  Derek Macinanti, wife Sarah, children Noah and Camden of Woburn, MA. TJ Ennion, his wife Susan, children William and Samuel of Dedham, MA. Timothy Macinanti, his wife Tiffany, children Ella and Dylan of Connecticut. Randy Macinanti, wife Susan of Woburn, MA.  Robyn Borowski (Macinanti), husband Brendan, children Madison and Benjamin of Woburn, MA.

He will be remembered by many surviving members of the large Macinanti family, including his many nieces, nephews and friends and his lifetime of customers, to which he was always grateful.

His Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Monday, June 28th followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn at 11:30 A.M.
