Eleanor “Ellie” Mary (Barrucci) Marciano, passed away peacefully, Friday, June 11th, at the Lahey Clinic, with her loving family at her side.  The beloved wife of Samuel  R. “Sam” Marciano was eighty-six years of age.

Raised and educated in Woburn, Ellie was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Ann (Brogna) Barrucci. Raised in the newlands section of the city, Ellie was very proud of her family. Her Dad being a successful developer in Newburyport and having built their home right next door to her grandparents, all living together in their own little compound!

Ellie attended elementary school at St Charles and was a graduate of Woburn High School along with the Class of 1953.  During the summer months Library Field was a place of a lot of activity particularly softball and baseball.  It was there that she was introduced to Sam Marciano, who was an outstanding ball player, and together they journeyed over the next sixty-five years, together.

Three children filled their home and to whom she was most dedicated.  Ellie encouraged and followed her children in all their sports and educational activities and opportunities.  Whether it was softball games in Nebraska, hockey games, track meets in Woburn, college graduations, weddings and births, she was right there., ready and willing to do what was needed.

Hampton Beach for summer vacations had become a ritual for the Marciano family over the years.  They would join in with family and friends swimming, cookouts and long walks on the beach.

“Nannie’ as she was lovingly called by her dear grandchildren were her loves!  Nannie picked up right where she left off with her own children, partaking, following and joining in all of their activities, front and center!

Ellie and Sam had a home in Aruba, which they would visit at different times throughout the years, always bringing family to enjoy the serenity of summer year-round!  Travelling was second nature to them!  With children and grandchildren, they would travel to the ends of the earth to share in whatever they were involved in.

Energetic, loving, supportive and caring woman, Ellie lived her life to the fullest, doing all she could for each and every family member.  A true matriarch, in every sense of the word, Ellie’s memory will be cherished, and she will be sadly missed by her family and  those who have had the honor and privilege of knowing her.
