William B. Gaffney

William B. Gaffney – of Woburn, April 7, 2021, unexpectedly, at fifty years of age. Beloved son of Hugh and Brigid Gaffney of Woburn.  Cherished brother of Mary Papazian of Andover, Hugh Gaffney, his wife Karen of Beverly, John Gaffney of Tewksbury, Colleen Herrera, her husband Willson of Burlington, Michael Gaffney of Woburn and James Gaffney, his wife Melissa of NH.  William is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to briefly pay their respects from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14th, in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., Woburn, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn.  Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. All attending are asked to enter through the front door of the Funeral Home and exit through the back door. Masks MUST be worn at all times, along with strict adherence to social distancing.  

William Bernard Gaffney – of Woburn, age 50, a most beloved son, brother, uncle, godfather and dear friend, passed away Wednesday, April 7th at home with family due to heart complications.

Known to many over the years as Liam, Bill, Willy and Will, he was a sweet, loving, funny, talented old soul. He enjoyed any reason to gather his family, as he was happiest when they were all together. He would mesmerize his 13 nieces and nephews with his stories and adventures.

Born and raised in Woburn, he graduated Woburn High School with the class of 1988. While in High School, he was active and talented in wrestling and was later inducted in the Woburn High Hall of Fame. He then went on to attend UMass Amherst, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre and film.

Liam was considered a true artist to many. He loved reading and writing, poetry and painting. He loved movies and films of all genres and enjoyed hiking and nature.

 He was a competitive boxer and kickboxer and a trainer for professional MMA fighters. He was also an instructor for kickboxing and karate, as he was a 2nd degree Black Belt. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten!

Bill is survived and will be deeply missed by his parents, Hugh and Brigid Gaffney of Woburn.   6. My heartfelt condolences to the Gaffney family. I can recall many great times spent with Bill during high school. Watching Tyson/Spinks and a road trip to Montreal were just two. A real positive person, he will be missed by many.
