Joan P. (Sullivan) Walsh – of Woburn, died peacefully, April 6th, at her home, at the age of eighty-seven. She was the beloved wife of 62 years to the late Daniel M. “Danny” Walsh.

Born in Boston and raised in Malden, Joan was the loving daughter of the late Daniel J. and Bridget (Driscoll) Sullivan of Ireland. She was a graduate of Girls Catholic High School and then studied nursing at St. Elizabeth’s HospitalNursing School and became a registered nurse.

For over 38 years, Joan worked as a Registered Nurse, first for Malden Hospital and later for the New England Rehabilitation hospital.

Joan’s greatest accomplishment in life was her family. She was a devoted, supportive and selfless wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who would do anything for the ones she loved. She loved spending time with her family, especially with all the family staying in Dan and Joan’s vacation home in South Yarmouth (12 beds and one bath room), which they owned for 29 years.  The last ten years, she loved spending weekends at Wells Beach and Wellfleet.

She was an avid reader, recently picking up cribbage and making puzzles. She had the most upbeat, optimistic personality. Her motto was `to never say no to any invite`.

Joan and her husband Dan enjoyed traveling, having visited Ireland many times and as well as traveling all over Europe and the United States. They also enjoyed taking many cruises.

Joan is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, William V. Walsh, his wife Carol of Shrewsbury, Daniel J. Walsh, his wife Phyllis of Lowell, Maureen J. Baldwin, her husband Shayne of Medford, John C. Walsh , his wife Cheryl of Wenham, and the late Kevin J. Walsh. Dear sister of Mary Sullivan of Burlington and the late William, Catherine, Peggy and Jane.
