Sarah (D’Alba) Ferdinand – of Wakefield, formerly of Burlington and Cambridge, died peacefully, April 1st, at the age of ninety. Beloved wife of 69 years to the late Manuel “Manny” J. Ferdinand. Dear sister of Geraldine “Cooki” Gaspar, Marie DeVellis both of Wakefield and the late Sabina Mullen, Ralph, Jack and Paul D’Alba. Dear sister-in-law of Theresa D’Alba of Malden. Also survived loving and devoted nieces and nephews.  A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Charles’s Church 280 Main St., Woburn on Wednesday, April 7th at 12 noon. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, close family and friends are invited to briefly pay their respects from 10:30am to 11:45am, in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main St., Woburn, prior to the Mass.  Interment to follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mt. Auburn St., Cambridge, MA. Donations may be made in Sarah’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Jimmy Fund c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284. 

Sarah (D’Alba) Ferdinand passed away peacefully on April 1st, at the WinRose Care Facility in Woburn, MA.. The beloved wife of the late Manny Ferdinand for over 69 years, she was 90 years old.

Born and raised in East Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Sarah (Mazzullo) D’Alba. Upon graduation from Cambridge High and Latin School she went to work as a secretary for Ginn and Company publishers. Her career spanned 45 years.  In the late 70’s she was promoted to a buyer position. This was quite an accomplishment for a woman at that time. 

She and her husband Manny made their residence in Burlington, MA for over 50 years until they moved to Wakefield, MA in 2010.

Sarah was a devoted wife, a cherished aunt and extraordinary cook. She enjoyed vacations in Maine, going to Foxwoods and having the family for Sunday dinners. Her husband predeceased her by two months.
