William F. Connolly Jr. – of Woburn, died peacefully March 9th at the age of eighty-one. He was the beloved husband of nearly 60 years to Beverly A. (Cucolo) Connolly.

Born and raised in Hartford, CT, Bill was a son of the late William F. and Catherine Agnes (Cronan) Connolly.

For many years, Bill worked as a materials manager for Wang Laboratories. He also owned and operate “Grandpa Billy’s” Ice cream in Wakefield with his son David. Years later, he worked for Ace Hardware in Woburn, where he remained until the age of 80.

Billy was full of life and laughter and could light up a room. He was the King of one liner and could get anyone to laugh, even at the most inappropriate times. He was a straight shooter and always told it as it was.

He was a dedicated, devoted and proud husband, father and grandfather who would do anything for his family. He was an avid and proud supporter of Woburn High School Hockey and would often tell all five of his grandchildren and their teammates after a big win that it was “lonely at the top”. He would post on Facebook “ROLL TANNERS” before they had a big game and also posted a daily joke for his many followers. He also loved taking trips to Florida or visiting Hampton Beach with his wife. He will be deeply missed.

Along with his wife Beverly, Bill is survived by his son David P. Connolly, his wife Pamela of Woburn. Cherished grandfather of Cory Connolly, his fiancé Kristen Belsito, Cole, Cassandra, Chad and Cassidy. Dear brother of John Connolly, his wife Carol of DE.

So sad to have learned of Bill’s passing. I will miss our CT talks and the shorts talks when we met in stores and especially Ace Hardware almost weekly. We will miss the times together and the next time planned. Our condolences to the entire Connelly family and especially Bev. May the good Lord watch over her in this loss still so young for any of us.
