Geraldine M. (Capezio) Scaramozzino– of Woburn, died peacefully, February 18th at the age of seventy-nine. She was the beloved wife of the late Phillip J. Scaramozzino.

Born in Cambridge and raised in Medford, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (DeSimone) Capezio. Gerry was a graduate of Julie Billiart Central High School in the North End, where she took the bus daily from Haymarket to Lechmere.  Gerry met the love of her life on Boston Ave. They married and moved to Purdue University. After graduation they settled in Woburn and raised their family.

Gerry worked for the Boston Globe, Arbour Counseling and until her passing, Old Navy. She made wonderful friends and relationships at all of these places.

Gerry’s greatest accomplishment in life was her family and spending time with them was always her favorite! She enjoyed going to the Casinos, taking Cruise trips, playing Bingo with her friends and visiting the beach or relaxing by the pool.  Let’s not forget how much she hated the snow, and keep her memory alive by thinking of her during every snow storm!

Gerry is survived and will be deeply missed by her children, Michael Scaramozzino, his wife Ann of Wilmington, Darlene Ahlstedt, her husband David of Woburn, and Phillip Scaramozzino Jr, his wife Brenda of Woburn. Dear sister of Denise Sawan and the late Michael Capezio. Adored Mammy of Michael James, Brittany, Ashley, Derek, Luke and Ali.  Also lovingly survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

All services are private and under the direction of the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, MA 01801.

I was so sorry to hear about my cousin Geraldine. I remember a quote by Norman Cousins : Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what lies inside us while we live.
    I’ll miss you Gerry.

  6. As soon as my husband and I came back from our honeymoon, Gerry asked me if I came back with a “little souvenir.”I laughed and responded with, “Not yet! I want to enjoy married life first!”
Oh, how I wish my future bambinos could meet you!

I’ll miss cracking silly, random jokes and sharing various stories with her. I’m going to miss not seeing her red Cadillac parked all the way at the back of the parking lot (so she can get her steps in!).
Gerry, I hope you’re enjoying your own version of Aruba, wherever you are. <3

To Gerry’s loved ones: My heart and thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

  7. Suellen McGillick

Gerry, Zelda and I (Suellen) would always get to Bingo early (three hours early) to eat supper, play cards and just chat. We always had the best time together with lots of laughs. It is so sad that she will not be joining us whenever Bingo starts again. We loved being with her. Prayers and many thoughts go out to her family.
