Joyce May (Huber) Goodwin, passed away at her daughters home Saturday, September 19th.  The beloved wife of the late John F. X. Goodwin, she was eighty eight years of age.

Raised and educated in Stoneham, Joyce was one of two daughters born to William and Lola (Coolidge) Huber. Joyce graduated from Stoneham High School in 1951 continuing on to the working world after graduation.  Joyce secured herself a position at John Hancock Insurance Company.

While growing up, Joyce’s family spent summers at Newfound Lake in New Hampshire.  Joyce’s Dad built the house  himself and over the years it was the hub for the family during the summer months.

While working for John Hancock, she met the love of her life, Jack Goodwin.  They married in 1952 and had journeyed over the next sixty-four years together.  They had three wonderful children to who they were dedicated too.

Throughout the years, many family vacations were had; summers at their cottage in Hyannis and frequent visits to Newfound Lake.  Joyce absolutely enjoyed being out in the sun!  While at the Cape, in the mornings they would be at Covelle Beach, then home for lunch and then they would head off to Lake Wequaquet Beach in the afternoon!  Truly great times throughout the days.  Joyce was a very creative woman who had a great gift of drawing.  Watercolors, pastels and oil, she was extremely talented and enjoyed painting landscapes, flowers and often times animals.

Joyce’s love for cats was always evident over the years around her home!  Having pet felines she also had pictures about her home, culinary pieces (cookie cutters and molds) of which she would often times delight the family with her treats, When it came to her car, for years on end, she would always have a red car with a convertible!  Again, not missing a moment of that wonderful sunshine! Moving to the West side of Woburn in 1958 right up to present day, Joyce had developed some very dear fiends there over the years, loving all the years she spent in the “Glenn” section of the city!

Sadly in addition to her father and mother, Joyce was predeceased by her beloved husband Jack and dear daughter Amy.

She is lovingly survived by her children, Jan E. Myers, her husband Gary of Stoughton, and Steven W. Goodwin, his wife Leighanne of Braintree and the late Amy F. Goodwin. Grandmother of Justin, Haylee and Cole.  Dear sister of Barbara Underwood of Arlington.  Joyce is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.
