MARIE C. (RIZZO) POWERS. –  of Woburn, September 7th, at eighty five years of age. Beloved wife of William “Bill” J. Powers.  Dear sister of the late Thomas E. Rizzo.  Devoted aunt of Thomas E. Rizzo, Jr, his wife Donna Gadomski of Boston, and Paul J. Rizzo, his wife Nicolle of Litchfield, NH and great aunt of Trevor and Isabella Rizzo.  A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Thursday, September 17th at 11:00 a.m.,followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara Church , 138 Cambridge Road (Rt.3A), Woburn at 11:30 a.m.  Interment is private.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Calling hours in the Funeral Home, Thursday morning 9-11 a.m. prior to the Mass.  All attending are asked to enter through the front door of the funeral home and exit through the back door. Masks MUST be worn at all times, along with strict adherence to social distancing. 

WoburnMarie (Rizzo) Powers, 85, of Woburn and South Dennis, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 7, 2020.

Born in Boston and raised in Medford, Marie was an accomplished singer and musician, performing in many musical productions in the Boston and Cape Cod areas. A passionate animal lover, she rescued ten cats over the course of her lifetime. She enjoyed spending close to 40 Cape Cod summers in the development built by her treasured brother Tommy, where she served as its secretary-treasurer from 1992-2014.

Marie was the beloved wife of William (Billy) Powers for 49 years, dear sister of the late Thomas E. Rizzo, Sr. and cherisheddaughter of the late Edward and Catherine Rizzo. She was the devoted aunt of Thomas E. Rizzo, Jr., his wife Donna Gadomski of Boston, and Paul J. Rizzo, his wife Nicolle and great aunt of Trevor and Isabella Rizzo, all of Litchfield, NH

A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Thursday, September 17th at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Road (Rt. 3A), Woburn at 11:30 a.m.  Interment is private.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours in the Funeral Home, Thursday morning 9-11 a.m. prior to the Mass. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MSPCA or MSPCA/Hillside Acre Animal Cemetery, the final resting place of Marie’s adored pets.

    We have only known Marie for a few short years at Kelley Bay but it has been a delight knowing her. Marie, I have so enjoyed our tète a tètes. We will always remember you as an example of gentle kindness.
