Linda (Feeney) Mahoney, passed away at the Care Dimensions Hospice Home, in Lincoln, surrounded by her beloved family.  The wife of Ret. Police Chief Phillip L. Mahoney, WPD, she was seventy-one years of age.

Born in Peabody, Linda was one of four children born to the late George and Helen (Bird) Feeney.  Raised and educated in Peabody, Linda was a graduate of Peabody High School, along with the Class of 1967.  In 1971, she married Phil and they brought a daughter and son into the world to whom she was devoted.

The family always enjoyed vacationing for several weeks in the summer at Panther Pond in Maine, where family and friends gathered over the years for some truly wonderful times!  They also enjoy taking “day trips” when the time was available.

For most of her career, Linda worked at Raytheon in Waltham. As a child, Linda enjoyed participating in the Girl Scouts of America.  Throughout the years Linda remained actively involved with the Woburn Girl Scouts, while her daughter was growing up and many years after.  Her involvement took her to many different places, doing many different things, including the Girl Scout Camps that took place at the Cape each year.

Linda was also a woman of deep faith.  She participated in many activities at St. Barbara Parish were she had taught CCD for a number of years and also served as a Eucharistic Minister.  Linda shared time with parishioners who were unable to attend Church, bringing the Eucharist to them, and sharing in some delightful conversation.

Linda has been described as a “living saint.”  Compassion, kindness and empathy with a very giving heart help to describe the essence of Linda.  She was not afraid to reach out to people, young or old and whatever was needed, Linda availed herself and you could consider it done.

Having lived in Woburn since 1971, Linda had many friends and a group of “very special friends,” that have been in her life and by her side for quite a while; Maureen Casey, Michael Maher, Julie Maher, Mikey and Ron McLean.

Wife of Ret. Police Chief Philip L. Mahoney, WPD. Cherished mother of Jennifer Cutillo, her husband John of Revere and Philip L. When I think of Linda I think of this quote because that is how Linda lived she was always there for others to help them through the difficult times. Linda seemed to have a huge capacity for love, kindness and understanding but she also loved to laugh and have a good time. She was my cousin and I loved her dearly. My deepest sympathy to her beautiful family. Peggy Ebersole

A WONDERFUL WOMEN. LINDA WAS ONE OF THE FIRST FEENEYS/MAHONEY’S I MET IN THE MID 90’S WHEN I FIRST STARTED DATING HER NEICE KATELYN (WHO IS NOW MY WIFE AND MOTHER TO OUR 3 KIDS). LINDA WAS VISITING HER BROTHER JACK SO I WAS ABLE TO MEET AND LAUGH WITH HER AND JACK ONE EVENING BEFORE KATELYN AND I WENT OUT. LINDA WAS AS LOVELY THAT NIGHT AS SHE WAS AT THE MANY LIFE EVENTS THEREAFTER. TWENTY FIVE YEARS LATER I AM SAD TO BE REMEMBERING LINDA AND THINKING OF PHIL, PHILIP AND JENNIFER DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME. LINDA WAS SO PROUD OF ALL OF YOU AND LOVED YOU ALL GREATLY, DEEPLY. I WISH YOU ALL MUCH STRENGTH IN THE DAYS, WEEK, YEARS AHEAD.
