William M. Carpenter Jr. – of Woburn, August 9th at the age of seventy-seven. Beloved husband of Mary E. (Hagerty) Carpenter. Loving father of Kelly Carter, her husband Paul of FL, William Carpenter, his wife Kendra (Romano) of Woburn and Susan McDonough, her husband Joseph of NC. Cherished grandfather of Paul Carter, his wife Rachael, Daniel and Lindsay Carter, Lindsey Keane, Katherine and William Carpenter, and Liam, Wyatt and Chloe McDonough, and great-grandchildren, Audrey, Emelia, Everett, and the late Noah Larson. Dear brother of Paul Carpenter, his wife Rosemary of North Conway, NH, Peter Carpenter, his wife Julie and Susan Carpenter, all of Woburn, and brother-in-law of Susan Bolster, her husband Cliff of ME. He was pre-deceased by his favorite feline friend, Max. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. At the family’s request and due to the current situation, we are experiencing with the Corona Virus, arrangements are private and under the direction of the Lynch – Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Carpenter’s memory to the Friends of Woburn Veteran’s 144 School Street Woburn MA 01801. William M. Carpenter Jr. – of Woburn, died peacefully August 9th at Blueberry Hill Rehab and Healthcare Center of Beverly, after suffering from a traumatic brain injury. The beloved husband of Mary E. (Hagerty) Carpenter, he was seventy-seven years of age.

Born in Boston, Bill was a son of the late William and Geraldine (Coleman) Carpenter. He was educated in Woburn and a graduate of Woburn High School, class of 1961. After high school, Bill served his country proudly during the Vietnam War as part of the US Air Force, until being honorably discharged. Upon his return, Bill continued his education at Northeastern University.

Bill worked in the family business William M. Carpenter Inc., overseeing Woburn Bus Lines for 25 years.  Bill’s passion for airplanes brought him to work at US Airways and American Airlines up to the time of his injury.

Bill was an avid reader, movie buff and loved and playing his guitar. Walking was his favorite way to relax and he especially enjoyed walking Crane Beach and Great Meadows. His family meant the world to him and he will be deeply missed.

Loving father of Kelly Carter, her husband Paul of FL, William Carpenter, his wife Kendra (Romano) of Woburn and Susan McDonough, her husband Joseph of NC. Cherished Granda of Paul Carter, his wife Rachael, Daniel and Lindsay Carter, Lindsey Keane, Katherine and William Carpenter, and Liam, Wyatt and Chloe McDonough, and great-grandchildren, Audrey, Emelia, Everett, and the late Noah Larson. Dear brother of Paul Carpenter, his wife Rosemary of North Conway, NH, Peter Carpenter, his wife Julie and Susan Carpenter, all of Woburn, and brother-in-law of Susan Bolster, her husband Cliff of ME. He was pre-deceased by his favorite feline friend, Max. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. 

Bill’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all of the nurses and staff at Blueberry Hill Healthcare, Care Dimensions Hospice of Danvers and the Beverly Catholic Collaborative, for their prayers and comfort for Bill and his family.

  2. Funny, Quiet, Strong, Decent- a great friend from my high school days. Several of us WHS boys spent many after-school hours with Bill and brother, Paul, talking and, sometimes, doing stupid things. We called Bill “Pound you” because that was his threat when we got out of line- and we were all afraid of him! Rest in peace, good man.
